The Vivo X Fold 6 is the best-equipped foldable of the moment on paper: a 200MP Zeiss camera, a 6,900mAh battery in Europe and two 120Hz displays in a 228g body. Launched in China on 26 June 2026, it has been on sale since 1 October in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for €2,199 (about 1,442,000 FCFA). France is left out. Published reviews praise the battery life and the camera, and point to a crease that is still visible and to noticeable heat. It is aimed at photography fans who want a big screen and who are happy to buy outside their home market.
Introduction: Vivo’s foldable finally leaves China
Vivo unveiled its new foldable on 26 June 2026 at MWC Shanghai, with Chinese sales starting on 1 July according to GSMArena. The brand promised an international version straight away. It arrived three months later, on 1 October, in the three German-speaking countries where vivo already sells its phones online.
The positioning is clear. Where Honor goes for thinness with its Magic V6, vivo bets on the camera and on stamina. The main sensor moves up to 200MP, the battery reaches 7,000mAh on the Chinese model, and a 200mm Zeiss teleconverter screws onto the back of the phone.
At €2,199, the Vivo X Fold 6 undercuts its two most talked-about rivals. Notebookcheck records a list price of €2,399 for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and €2,549 for Apple’s iPhone Duo. Our newsroom has not handled the device: this page cross-checks the manufacturer’s data, published reviews and our own analysis.

Three numbers sum up the phone. First, the 6,900mAh of the European version, packed into 4.4mm once the phone is open. Then the 200MP of the main sensor, at 1/1.4 inch, which is large for a foldable. Finally the 228g, in line with today’s average for the format but heavier than the previous model.
Europe gets a single configuration of the Vivo X Fold 6, with 12GB + 512GB. China has four, up to 16GB + 1TB.
Foldable format: crease, hinge and thickness of the Vivo X Fold 6
A crease you can see and feel
This is the clearest criticism in the reviews. Notebookcheck describes a crease that is visible and noticeable under the finger, more pronounced than on the Oppo Find N6. It does not really get in the way in everyday use, the site adds.
A hinge rated for 600,000 folds
According to Android Authority, vivo rates its hinge for 600,000 opening cycles. At a hundred openings a day, that works out to more than sixteen years. The figure comes from lab testing, on a clean hinge.
Thickness, weight and cover screen
Open, the Vivo X Fold 6 measures 157.2 × 145.7mm and is 4.4mm thick. Closed, 157.2 × 74.3 × 9.4mm. Those figures apply to the black model, at 228g. The blue finish comes in at 4.8mm, 9.9mm and 235g, according to GSMArena and Basic Tutorials.
The 6.51-inch cover screen has the proportions of an ordinary smartphone. You can reply to a message or pay without unfolding: the inner screen becomes a bonus, not an obligation.
Durability: very good against water, average against dust
The Vivo X Fold 6 is rated IPX8 and IPX9: it withstands immersion and high-pressure jets. Against dust, the rating stops at IP5X. The 5 means the device is protected, not sealed. Honor’s Magic V6, rated IP68, does better.
Good to know — during the harmattan or on a laterite track, fine dust is a far bigger threat to a hinge than rain. Avoid opening the phone on the beach or on a building site.
Design: a thin, understated foldable, heavier than its predecessor
Closed, the Vivo X Fold 6 is about the size of a large conventional smartphone in its case. The frame is aluminium and the back is glass fibre, according to GSMArena. That material weighs less than glass.
The circular camera module sits at the top of the back, as on the other X-series models. It sticks out noticeably, a direct consequence of the large sensor. Notebookcheck finds the whole thing pleasing to look at and to hold, while noting that it has put on weight compared with the X Fold 5.
Two colours are sold in Europe: Prism Black and Horizon Blue. The black one is the thinnest and lightest. The fingerprint reader is on the side, in the power button.
Display: two accurate LTPO panels, a long way from the promised 5,000 nits
Both displays on the Vivo X Fold 6 share the same technology: LTPO AMOLED, a variable refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz, a billion colours, Dolby Vision and HDR10+.
- Inner display: 8.02 inches, 2,504 × 2,312 pixels, about 425ppi, Samsung M14 panel.
- Cover display: 6.51 inches, 2,528 × 1,120 pixels, BOE Q11 panel.
- Claimed brightness: 5,000 nits local peak on both.
Measured brightness: the gap with the claim
The 5,000 nits are an HDR peak on a tiny area of the image. Notebookcheck recorded a maximum of 1,245 cd/m² on the inner display and 2,413 cd/m² on the cover display. That is enough under the Douala sun, but a long way from the number on the spec sheet.
Colour accuracy, on the other hand, is remarkable. The same lab measures an average Delta E of 0.7 on both panels, a deviation the eye cannot see.
Flicker worth keeping an eye on
Notebookcheck reports PWM flicker at 90Hz on the inner display, a low frequency that can tire sensitive eyes. The cover display switches to high-frequency dimming, measured at 4,166Hz. If OLED panels give you headaches, try the device before you buy.
Performance: a fast Dimensity 9500 that heats up quickly
A MediaTek chip reworked for vivo
The Vivo X Fold 6 runs on the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, a variant of MediaTek’s flagship chip built on a 3nm process. It has a prime core clocked at 4.21GHz and a Mali-G1 Ultra graphics processor. An in-house imaging chip, the V3+, handles photo processing.
From cold, Notebookcheck gets 3,181 points in single-core and 9,511 in multi-core on Geekbench 6. That is on a par with the best Android phones of 2026. The 16GB version remains exclusive to China, a choice probably linked to the RAM shortage.
Heat: stress tests cut short
The weak spot shows up under prolonged load. In 4.4mm, the heat has nowhere to go. Notebookcheck measured up to 46.9°C on the surface. The 3DMark stress tests stopped before the end because of the temperature. After fifteen minutes of continuous effort, performance drops by 6 to 7%.
Those measurements were taken on the Chinese model. Day to day, nothing gets in the way: browsing, office work and photo editing stay smooth. For long gaming sessions when it is 32°C in the shade, the Vivo X Fold 6 is not the right tool.
Camera: the foldable that closes in on camera phones
This is where vivo wants to stand apart. The Zeiss partnership covers the lenses, the T* anti-reflective coating and the colour profiles. The Vivo X Fold 6 borrows part of the recipe of the Vivo X500 Pro Max, in a body half as thick.

Three Zeiss cameras, including a 200MP sensor
- Wide: 200MP, 1/1.4-inch Samsung HPB sensor, 23mm equivalent, f/1.68, optical stabilisation.
- Periscope telephoto: 50MP, Sony LYT-602 sensor, 70mm equivalent, f/2.57, 3x optical zoom, macro mode.
- Ultra-wide: 50MP, 16mm equivalent, f/2.05.
- Selfie: 20MP, f/2.4, on each of the two displays.
A 1/1.4-inch sensor is still smaller than those of conventional camera phones, which come close to a full inch.
Zoom: a good 3x and a 200mm teleconverter
Notebookcheck considers the main camera a step up from the previous generation, with good results in daylight. The 3x optical zoom produces quality images. Beyond that, digital zoom goes up to 100x, and the result looks increasingly artificial as AI rebuilds the detail. The ultra-wide is the weak link of the trio, without being bad.
The real novelty is an accessory. The second-generation Zeiss teleconverter attaches to the periscope and takes the focal length to 200mm. It is 96mm long and weighs 153g, according to Basic Tutorials. It is sold separately and will not slip into a pocket.
Night, portrait and video
Vivo highlights a portrait mode for moving subjects and a night portrait with flash. The reviews we consulted say little about low light. The German site does note, however, that the European version uses a more neutral white balance and a slightly darker exposure than the Chinese one.
For video, the Vivo X Fold 6 shoots 8K at 30 frames per second and 4K at 60 frames per second in Dolby Vision. One advantage of the format: with the phone open, the cover screen acts as a viewfinder so you can film yourself with the rear cameras.
Battery life of the Vivo X Fold 6: 6,900mAh in Europe, 7,000mAh in China
The battery is the other strong argument. Vivo uses a silicon-anode cell, semi-solid-state according to the brand, said to work down to -20°C. The Chinese version is rated at 7,000mAh, the European one at 6,900mAh.

That 100mAh gap makes no difference. Notebookcheck, which compared both versions, finds only two minutes between them in its endurance test. IBTimes, which sums up around ten reviews, ranks the Vivo X Fold 6 among the longest-lasting foldables on the market. We did not find a figure in hours that was corroborated well enough to quote.
With that much capacity, a day and a half of mixed use looks realistic. In Yaoundé or Abidjan, during a long power cut, that is a concrete advantage.
Charging: 57 minutes for a full tank
Charging on the Vivo X Fold 6 reaches 80W wired and 40W wireless, with reverse charging to top up a pair of earbuds. Notebookcheck clocks 50% in 23 minutes, 80% in 41 minutes and 100% in 57 minutes. The battery is rated for 1,000 cycles.
In Europe, vivo adds a five-year battery warranty for purchases made in October. The sources we consulted do not say whether an 80W charger comes in the European box: check that point before ordering.
Software: OriginOS 7 Fold, Android 17 and five years of updates
The European version of the Vivo X Fold 6 ships with OriginOS 7 Fold, based on Android 17, and full Google services. The Chinese model launched on OriginOS 6 Fold and Android 16, with no Google apps preinstalled. According to Notebookcheck, vivo promises five major Android updates and seven years of security patches for the international version.
Multitasking: four apps on screen
The interface shows up to four apps at once on the inner display. A desktop mode kicks in when you plug in a monitor over USB-C.
AI and Google services
Gemini and Circle to Search are built into the European version. The file manager uses AI to rename and sort documents, according to Android Authority. Vivo also gives early buyers three months of Google AI Pro.
Vivo X Fold 6 price and availability in France, Europe and Africa
Vivo X Fold 6 release date in Europe: €2,199 since 1 October
The official price of the Vivo X Fold 6 is €2,199 (about 1,442,000 FCFA) for the only version, with 12GB + 512GB. Sales began on 1 October on vivo’s online store in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
For October purchases, the brand throws in a vivo Watch GT 2, one extra year of warranty on top of the two statutory years and a year of screen protection. The details of the offer are on vivo’s official German website.
The Vivo X Fold 6 in France: no official sales
France is not on the list of countries served. We found no product listing at Amazon.fr, Fnac, Darty or Cdiscount as of 3 October 2026. A French buyer has to order from Germany or Austria, or go through an importer. The price comparison site Kimovil already lists the international version from €1,979 (about 1,298,000 FCFA).
This European model works with French carriers, but after-sales service will go through the country of purchase. A European presentation is scheduled for 27 October for the X500 series: vivo may spell out its plans there.
In China: almost half the price
Chinese pricing for the Vivo X Fold 6 is much lower: 7,999 yuan with 12GB + 256GB, or about €1,030 (about 676,000 FCFA), and 8,999 yuan with 12GB + 512GB, or about €1,150 (about 754,000 FCFA). The 16GB + 1TB version is listed at 10,999 yuan, or about €1,410 (about 925,000 FCFA), according to Android Authority. These conversions exclude taxes.
For the same configuration, Europe therefore pays almost double. Kimovil finds imported Chinese versions at between €1,143 and €1,683. The saving comes at a cost: no Google services out of the box, no 6GHz Wi-Fi, no eSIM and a warranty of only twelve months.
In West and Central Africa: importing, with caution
We found no announcement of the Vivo X Fold 6 in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire or Senegal. You will have to go through an importer or a relative in Europe.
Go for the international version. According to Kimovil, it supports 4G bands B3, B7 and B20 as well as 5G on n78, the most common in the region. It takes two eSIMs, according to Notebookcheck. The warranty only applies in Europe: if the screen or the hinge fails, no local authorised service centre will take the device in.
Pros and cons
Pros
- The most complete Zeiss camera system on a foldable, with an optional 200mm teleconverter.
- A 6,900mAh battery in Europe and a full charge in under an hour.
- Two 120Hz LTPO displays with very accurate colours.
- Android 17 out of the box, five Android versions and seven years of patches announced.
- Cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and the iPhone Duo.
Cons
- No official distribution in France or in West and Central Africa.
- A crease you can see and feel.
- Runs hot under sustained load, stress tests cut short.
- 90Hz flicker on the inner display, limited protection against dust.
- A single configuration in Europe, at almost twice the Chinese price.
These Vivo X Fold 6 scores sum up the specifications and the published reviews, not a hands-on test by our newsroom. Notebookcheck gives the Chinese model 87%. Our 8.4 out of 10 takes into account the European price and the absence from France.
Alternatives to the Vivo X Fold 6
Oppo Find N6 5G 16 Go + 512 Go
Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design 16 Go + 256 Go
The Honor Magic V6 is the logical choice for a French buyer: it is sold in France and better protected against dust. The Oppo Find N6 takes more care over its crease, according to Notebookcheck. The Huawei Mate XT 2 adds a second hinge, at the cost of life without Google services. The Xiaomi 18 Fold is another one to watch.
Conclusion: should you buy the Vivo X Fold 6?
The Vivo X Fold 6 is the foldable to recommend to anyone who puts photography first. No book-style competitor lines up a 200MP sensor, a periscope of this quality and a teleconverter. Battery life keeps up, and so does charging.
It is not the most polished at what makes a foldable a foldable. The crease can be felt, dust remains a weakness and the chip heats up when pushed. Honor and Oppo do better.
Should you buy the Vivo X Fold 6? Yes if you live in Germany, Austria or Switzerland, or if someone close to you can order it on your behalf. From France or from West and Central Africa, weigh up the risk of after-sales service that is a long way away.
Good to know — our advice: get the international version of the Vivo X Fold 6, never the Chinese one, and keep the invoice. If a warranty in France matters to you, go for Honor’s Magic V6 instead.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Vivo X Fold 6 price in Europe?
The official price is €2,199 (about 1,442,000 FCFA) for the only version sold in Europe, with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. That price has applied in Germany, Austria and Switzerland since 1 October 2026. In China, the same phone starts at 7,999 yuan, or about €1,030, with 12GB + 256GB.
Is the Vivo X Fold 6 available in France?
No, not officially. The brand sells the Vivo X Fold 6 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and France does not appear among the countries announced. We found no offer at Amazon.fr, Fnac, Darty or Cdiscount in early October 2026. You can buy it in a neighbouring country or from an importer, but the warranty will be handled in the country of purchase.

Is the Vivo X Fold 6 waterproof?
Yes for water, less so for dust. It is rated IPX8 and IPX9: it resists immersion in fresh water and high-pressure jets. Against dust, the rating is IP5X, which means partial protection rather than a full seal. These ratings cover neither sea water nor sand in the hinge.
Is the Vivo X Fold 6 the best foldable phone of 2026 for photography?
On the spec sheet, yes. It combines a 200MP main sensor in the 1/1.4-inch format, a 50MP 3x periscope and an optional 200mm Zeiss teleconverter, which no book-style rival offers.
