The Honor Magic V6 is the longest-lasting foldable phone on sale in France: 6,660mAh in a body that measures 8.75mm when closed and weighs 219g. Unveiled at MWC 2026 and sold in France since 2 July, it officially costs €2,299.90 (about 1,509,000 FCFA) with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Published reviews praise how thin it is and how long it lasts, and complain about a throttled chip and an underwhelming night mode. It is built for people who want a small tablet in their pocket without hunting for a charger at 5pm.
Introduction: the Honor foldable that bets everything on battery
Honor unveiled the Honor Magic V6 on 1 March 2026 in Barcelona, alongside its surprising Robot Phone with a motorised camera arm. China got it as early as 13 March; Europe had to wait until the start of July.

The Magic V5 had won the race to be thinnest. Its successor keeps that frame and goes after the real weak spot of book-style foldables: stamina. Capacity rises from 5,820 to 6,660mAh without making the phone any thicker, and an IP69 rating joins the IP68 one.
Then there is the price. At €2,299.90, the Honor Magic V6 sits at the very top of the market, against the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the Oppo Find N6 and Apple’s iPhone Duo. Our team has not handled the device: this page cross-checks official data, published reviews and our own analysis.
Verdict in brief: the Honor Magic V6 is the most balanced foldable right now
Verdict in 30 seconds
The Honor Magic V6 brings together what foldables were missing: the battery life of a regular phone, proper water resistance and record thinness. Its chip is throttled by default and its official price remains very high.

Three numbers matter here. First, the 6,660mAh: that is roughly 50% more than the 4,400mAh of a Galaxy Z Fold 7, in a thinner body. Next, the 8.75mm when closed, which is the thickness of a regular phone in a case. Finally, the 6,000 nits of claimed peak brightness on the cover screen, which bodes well for reading in direct sunlight.
The European Honor Magic V6 comes in a single 16GB + 512GB version. The Chinese variants go up to 6,850mAh, and even 7,150mAh for the 1TB model, according to GSMArena.
Foldable format: crease, hinge and thickness of the Honor Magic V6
A foldable is judged by what it lets you forget: the crease, the weight, the fear of breaking it. On all three counts, the Honor Magic V6 is the brand’s most accomplished effort yet.
A crease that is almost invisible, not gone
Honor claims a crease 44% shallower than on the Magic V5. Digitec describes it as barely visible in use, Rotek as still visible but more discreet. It gets in the way of neither reading nor video.
A steel hinge rated for 500,000 folds
The Super Steel hinge is rated for 500,000 opening cycles, certified by the SGS laboratory. At a hundred openings a day, that works out to more than thirteen years.
Thickness, weight and cover screen
Open, the Honor Magic V6 measures 156.7 × 145.6 × 4.0mm. Closed, 156.7 × 74.5 × 8.75mm. Those figures apply to the white model, which weighs 219g. The other finishes come in at 4.1mm, 9mm and 224g, according to GSMArena and Digitec.
The 6.52-inch cover screen has an aspect ratio close to that of an ordinary smartphone. You can answer a message or pay without opening the device, whereas the first foldables were so narrow that you had to unfold them for almost everything.
Durability: IP68 and IP69, with a caveat about dust
With the Honor Magic V6, the brand claims the first foldable certified for both IP68 and IP69. The first rating covers immersion at 1.5m for 30 minutes, the second high-pressure water jets. The phone has also received a five-star SGS certification for drop resistance.
Good to know — an IP rating is measured on a brand-new device, in a lab. For a hinge, fine sand and laterite dust are more dangerous than rain: avoid opening the phone on the beach or on a building site.
Design: a thin foldable, thrown off balance by its camera bump
Closed, the Honor Magic V6 looks like a regular smartphone and slips into a jeans pocket without bulging. Presse-citron gives it 9.5 out of 10 for design.
The downside of that thinness is on the back. The circular camera module sticks out a long way: Digitec measures 15.1mm of thickness at that point. Laid on a table, the phone tilts. Several reviewers also note poorly distributed weight when you hold it open in one hand.
There are four colours: black, white, gold and red. White is the thinnest and lightest. The inner screen holds on to fingerprints, a flaw Presse-citron points out and one that affects every foldable with a soft protective film.
Display: two very bright LTPO panels on the Honor Magic V6
Both screens on the Honor Magic V6 share the same technical base: LTPO OLED, a variable refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz, a billion colours and 4,320Hz PWM dimming. That last point is a relief for eyes that are sensitive to the flicker of OLED panels at low brightness.
- Inner screen: 7.95 inches, 2,172 × 2,352 pixels, around 403ppi, 5,000 nits peak.
- Cover screen: 6.52 inches, 1,080 × 2,420 pixels, around 406ppi, 6,000 nits peak.
- Stylus supported on both panels, sold separately.
Those figures are HDR peaks, a long way from brightness in everyday use. Even so, Clubic calls both screens excellent, and Presse-citron gives them 9 out of 10. Honor adds an anti-reflective coating, which helps under the Douala sun as much as on a café terrace in Marseille.
The almost square shape of the inner screen mostly benefits reading and multitasking. With 16:9 video, wide black bars remain: the picture is barely larger than on a 6.9-inch phone. That is a limit of the format, not of this model.
Performance: a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 kept on a leash
A top-tier chip, throttled by default
The Honor Magic V6 runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, built on a 3nm process, with two cores at 4.6GHz and an Adreno 840 graphics processor. The European version pairs it with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, with no microSD card slot.
In a body 4mm thick, heat has nowhere to go. So Honor has reined the chip in when the phone is in balanced mode, the factory setting. Clubic records 1,377 points in single-core and 5,055 in multi-core on Geekbench in that mode, against 3,045 and 9,411 in performance mode. Out of the box, then, the phone uses only about half of what it is capable of.
Heat and gaming: this is not a console
In performance mode the power is there, but the temperature climbs quickly. Clubic measures a drop in performance of up to 27% under sustained load with the phone folded. For long sessions on a demanding game, a conventional phone with active cooling such as the RedMagic 11S Pro will do better.
None of this is a worry for the intended use. Browsing, multitasking and photo editing run without slowdowns in balanced mode, according to the reviews, and the throttling helps battery life. The 16GB of RAM leaves comfortable headroom at a time when the RAM shortage is pushing some manufacturers to cut corners here.
Camera: a good telephoto, night shots that need work
The Honor Magic V6 does not lean on any big name in optics, whereas Vivo works with Zeiss and Oppo with Hasselblad. The brand relies on its own image processing, with solid results by day and less convincing ones once the light fades.

Three sensors, including a 64MP periscope
- Main camera: 50MP, f/1.6, 23mm equivalent, 1/1.56-inch sensor, optical stabilisation.
- Periscope telephoto: 64MP, f/2.5, 70mm equivalent, 1/2-inch sensor, 3x optical zoom, optical stabilisation.
- Ultra-wide: 50MP, f/2.2, 13mm equivalent, 122 degrees, autofocus.
- Selfie: 20MP, f/2.2, on each of the two screens.
The 1/1.56-inch main sensor is decent and no more, at a time when conventional camera phones are approaching one inch. That is the price of thinness: a large sensor needs thick optics, which cannot fit into 4mm.
By day and when zooming: very good
Reviews agree on quality in good light. Digitec rates the output of the main camera as excellent, for detail and colour alike. Rotek talks about clean, detailed shots. The 3x telephoto is the strong point of the set, with stabilisation certified at CIPA 6.5 that helps with handheld shots.
Digital zoom goes up to 100x. Beyond 10x, the image is reconstructed by AI. The ultra-wide is more of a letdown: Digitec criticises its lack of detail, which is hard to accept at this price.
At night and in video: decent, no more
Low light is the real weak spot. Presse-citron finds the night mode disappointing. Digitec notes pixelated images and focusing errors with the telephoto after sunset.
For video, the Honor Magic V6 shoots in 4K at 60 frames per second and in 10-bit, with no 8K. Rotek describes solid video, nothing spectacular. One advantage of the format: when the phone is open, the cover screen works as a viewfinder so you can film yourself with the rear cameras, which are far better than the selfie cameras.
Battery life of the Honor Magic V6: the foldable that finally lasts two days
This is where the Honor Magic V6 pulls away from its rivals. The 6,660mAh silicon-carbon battery has 25% silicon in its anode, according to Honor, which raises energy density without making the cell any bigger.
Published measurements back up the promise. Clubic mentions a day and a half to two days of use. Presse-citron ends its days of mixed use with 65 to 70% of battery left and considers two days achievable. Digitec measures 10 hours 45 minutes of continuous screen-on time on the inner display and 17 hours 42 minutes on the cover screen, against around fifteen hours for the previous model. Rotek, more cautious, talks about a comfortable day.
In Yaoundé or Abidjan, that argument carries real weight: during a long power cut, a phone that still has half its charge in the evening does not need a power bank.
Charging: 80W wired, 66W wireless, charger sold separately
Wired charging goes from 66 to 80W, wireless charging from 50 to 66W. With an 80W brick, Clubic records 70% in 31 minutes and a full charge in 58 minutes. That is quick for a battery this size.
The catch is a familiar one: no charger is included. To reach 80W, you need a brick that supports the Honor SuperCharge protocol. A standard USB-C charger will work, just more slowly.
Software: MagicOS 10, seven years of support and a bridge to Apple
The Honor Magic V6 runs MagicOS 10, based on Android 16, with full Google services. Honor promises seven years of Android updates and security patches, like Samsung and Google. Presse-citron mentions six years, while Clubic, Rotek and GSMArena say seven: either way, the device will be supported until at least 2032.
Multitasking and stylus
The interface shows several apps side by side on the inner screen. Digitec does point out that some apps, including Chrome during its review, refuse to run in split screen. The stylus is recognised on both panels, which is still rare. It is sold separately.
AI and compatibility with the Apple ecosystem
The AI features cover call translation, writing help, image editing and deepfake detection. More unusual: Honor has worked on interoperability with Apple. According to Génération-NT, the phone can access iCloud files, show notifications on an Apple Watch and manage AirPods settings.
The recurring complaint is about preinstalled apps. Digitec and Rotek find too many of them for a device at this price. Most can be uninstalled, but you expect better at more than €2,000.
Honor Magic V6 price and availability in France, Europe and Africa
In France: €2,299.90 officially, cheaper in practice
The recommended price is €2,299.90 (about 1,509,000 FCFA) for the single 16GB + 512GB version. At launch, until 31 July, Honor applied a €600 coupon that brought the bill down to €1,699.90 (about 1,115,000 FCFA).
In early October, several online retailers list the Honor Magic V6 well below the official price. Clubic reports prices from €1,399 to €1,655 (about 918,000 to 1,086,000 FCFA) and the price comparison site Kimovil a floor of €1,379 (about 905,000 FCFA). These offers often come from third-party sellers: check the version and the warranty. Details are on the manufacturer’s official French page.

In Europe and China
Germany has the same price, and the United Kingdom asks £1,999.90. In China, the price list is far gentler: 8,999 yuan for 12GB + 256GB, or about €1,155 (about 758,000 FCFA), and 11,999 yuan for 16GB + 1TB, or about €1,540 (about 1,010,000 FCFA). The Chinese version has a bigger battery, but neither Google services out of the box nor a European warranty.
In West and Central Africa: importing, with care
We found no official distribution of the Honor Magic V6 in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire or Senegal. In Kenya, the site Tech-ish reports that it arrived at the end of August through importers, at 312,999 shillings. In Douala or Dakar, you will have to go through an importer or a relative in France.
Go for the European version. According to Kimovil’s listings, which the brand has not confirmed, it covers the 4G bands most widely used in the region (B1, B3, B7, B8, B20 and B28) as well as 5G on n78. It takes two SIMs, one of them an eSIM. The warranty, though, only applies in Europe: if the screen or hinge fails, no local authorised centre will take the device in.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Best battery life among the book-style foldables sold in France.
- As thin and light as a regular smartphone once closed.
- IP68 and IP69 ratings, hinge tested over 500,000 cycles.
- Two bright LTPO screens, both stylus-compatible.
- Seven years of updates announced, and it gets on well with Apple devices.
Cons
- Very high official price, a single configuration in Europe.
- Power throttled in balanced mode, heat in performance mode.
- Night photos and ultra-wide camera below the expected level.
- Charger and stylus not included.
- Protruding camera bump that throws the phone off balance.
These Honor Magic V6 scores sum up the specifications and the published reviews, not hands-on use by our team. Value for money is calculated on the official price: at around €1,400, it would easily gain a point and a half.
Alternatives to the Honor Magic V6
Oppo Find N6 5G 16 Go + 512 Go
Vivo X Fold 6
Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design 16 Go + 256 Go
The Oppo Find N6 is the closest competitor in format and price. The Vivo X Fold 6 will appeal more to photography fans thanks to its partnership with Zeiss. The Huawei Mate XT 2 adds a second hinge, at the cost of living without Google services. The Xiaomi 18 Fold is another one to look at. And if a foldable does not win you over, there is still the Honor Magic 9 Pro Max, in a conventional format.
Conclusion: our Honor Magic V6 review verdict
The Honor Magic V6 settles the three complaints levelled at foldables for the past five years: too thick, too fragile, too quick to run flat. It slips into a pocket like an ordinary smartphone, resists water and lasts two days.
It is not perfect: the chip idles along by default, night photography does not keep up and the ultra-wide disappoints. For photography, a conventional smartphone will do better for half the price.
Should you buy the Honor Magic V6? At €2,299.90, only if budget is not a concern. At around €1,400 to €1,500 from a reputable retailer, with a European warranty, it is the foldable we recommend to anyone who works on their phone.
Our pick
Honor Magic V6 — the longest-lasting and thinnest foldable of the moment, for people who want a big screen without giving up battery life. Aim for under €1,500 (about 984,000 FCFA) rather than the official price.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Honor Magic V6 price in France?
The official price is €2,299.90 (about 1,509,000 FCFA) for the only version sold in Europe, with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. At launch, in July 2026, a €600 coupon brought it down to €1,699.90. In early October, several online retailers offer it for between €1,380 and €1,650, according to Clubic and Kimovil. Make sure it really is the European version.
Is the Honor Magic V6 waterproof?
Yes. It is rated IP68 and IP69. The first rating covers immersion down to 1.5m for 30 minutes in fresh water, the second high-pressure water jets. Honor presents it as the first foldable to combine the two. These ratings are obtained on a brand-new device and cover neither sea water nor damage caused by sand in the hinge.
How long does the Honor Magic V6 battery last?
The 6,660mAh battery lasts between a day and a half and two days, according to Clubic and Presse-citron. Digitec measured 10 hours 45 minutes of continuous screen-on time on the inner display and 17 hours 42 minutes on the cover screen. Rotek talks instead about a comfortable day. A full charge takes 58 minutes with an 80W brick, which has to be bought separately.
Is the Honor Magic V6 the best foldable phone of 2026?
It is the most balanced if you are after battery life, thinness and water resistance: Clubic gives it 9 out of 10 and Presse-citron 8.6. It is not the best for night photography, nor the most powerful for gaming, because its chip is throttled by default to limit heat. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 keeps the edge on after-sales network, and the iPhone Duo on the Apple ecosystem.
Can you buy this Honor foldable in Cameroon or Côte d’Ivoire?
Not through an official channel, as far as we know. You have to go through an importer or buy in Europe. Choose the European version, which includes Google services and, according to Kimovil, the 4G bands commonly used in West and Central Africa. The weak point is the warranty: it only applies in Europe, and repairing a foldable screen outside the authorised network is very expensive.
