The RedMagic 12 Pro+ will be unveiled in China on 15 October 2026, and it is going after the title of the most powerful gaming phone on the market. RedMagic has confirmed the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip, a slimmer design with 0.96 mm bezels and a selfie camera hidden under the screen. Leaks point to an 8,400 mAh battery and 120 W charging. It is aimed at demanding gamers, but there is no price and no European release date yet.

Introduction: the RedMagic 12 Pro+, the new flagship for gamers

RedMagic, the gaming brand of Nubia (part of the ZTE group), refreshes its top-end phone every autumn. The RedMagic 11 Pro was unveiled in China on 17 October 2025, then launched in France on 19 November from 699 euros. The RedMagic 11S Pro took over in spring 2026.

The cycle is getting shorter: the 11S Pro reached Europe on 10 June 2026, just four months before the RedMagic 12 Pro+ was announced. According to Gizmochina, the brand will only release the Pro+ version this time, with no regular Pro model. RedMagic has not confirmed this.

This page separates what is official, what has leaked and what is likely. We have not had the phone in our hands: we will update it after 15 October, and again once the first published reviews come out.

Verdict at a glance: promising, but it has to prove itself

Awaiting review — On paper, the RedMagic 12 Pro+ ticks every box for a demanding gamer: Qualcomm’s fastest chip, active cooling and a big battery. The European price, how it holds up under sustained load and which battery version is sold in Europe all remain to be checked.

  • Who it is for: Gamers who want the highest frame rates over long sessions, emulation fans and mobile streamers.
  • Avoid if: You want an excellent camera phone, a compact handset or very long software support.

What looks promising:

  • Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 confirmed
  • Liquid cooling and a fan
  • Notch-free screen thanks to the under-display camera

Still to be confirmed:

  • Price and European release date unknown
  • Battery likely smaller in Europe
  • Main camera and selfies behind other flagships

Three figures stand out in the RedMagic 12 Pro+ specs. The chip, confirmed by RedMagic on Weibo, is the fastest in Qualcomm’s new generation. The 8,400 mAh figure is only a leak, reported by Gizmochina on 23 September. The 0.96 mm bezels, down from 1.25 mm, are official.

To make things clearer, here is what the brand has announced and what is circulating without confirmation:

  • Confirmed by RedMagic: Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, 9th-generation under-display selfie camera, 0.96 mm bezels, rounded frame, thinner and lighter body, cooling with an active fan and a liquid loop, dedicated chips for esports and the display.
  • Leaks reported by the press: 8,400 mAh battery, 120 W wired charging, 80 W wireless charging, refresh rate above 144 Hz.
  • Assumptions from the tech press: two 50 MP rear sensors, configurations up to 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, no Pro model without the “+”.
  • Completely unknown: price, screen size and resolution, exact weight, water resistance rating, European release date.

RedMagic 12 Pro+ release date: 15 October in China, Europe later

A Chinese launch set for 15 October

RedMagic announced an “October” launch on Weibo on 20 September, teasing an esports flagship “born for real gamers”. The exact date came at the end of September: 15 October 2026 at 2:30 pm Beijing time, which is 8:30 am in Paris and 7:30 am in Lagos or Douala.

What about Europe?

Nothing has been announced for Europe. The RedMagic 11 Pro reached France a month after its Chinese unveiling. If RedMagic sticks to that pace, the RedMagic 12 Pro+ could go on sale in France in late November or early December 2026, a timeline that still needs confirming at the 15 October event.

The name could change too. In 2025, China got both an 11 Pro and an 11 Pro+, while Europe only got the 11 Pro, with a smaller battery and slower charging.

Design: the RedMagic 12 Pro+ gets thinner, rounder and almost bezel-free

This is the area RedMagic is pushing hardest. The sharp edges give way to a slightly curved (2.5D) frame and rounder corners. Jiang Chao, the brand’s product director, promises a more comfortable grip, especially in landscape mode.

The company also says the phone will be thinner and lighter than the RedMagic 11 Pro, which measured 8.9 mm and weighed 230 grams according to GSMArena. No figures have been given yet. Fitting a fan, a liquid loop and 8,400 mAh into a slimmer chassis is a balancing act, so we will wait for the measurements.

The previous generation was IPX8-rated, which is rare for a phone with a fan. The brand has not confirmed whether that protection carries over. In West and Central Africa, dust is the real issue: the fan’s air intake needs regular cleaning.

Good to know — Recent RedMagic phones often use a transparent back that shows off the fan and its LEDs. The official RedMagic 12 Pro+ images mostly show the front, so the rear finish will only be revealed on 15 October.

Display: no hole punch and a higher refresh rate

RedMagic is one of the few brands that hides the selfie camera under the panel. The RedMagic 12 Pro+ debuts the 9th generation of this technology, which is meant to make the sensor area invisible while you play or watch videos.

The bezels shrink from 1.25 to 0.96 mm, a record according to the brand. For gamers, it is all about immersion: no hole in the middle of a PUBG Mobile map, no black strip when you hold the phone sideways.

For everything else, the predecessor is the only guide: a 6.85-inch AMOLED panel at 1,216 x 2,688 pixels and 144 Hz, peaking at 2,000 nits. Leaks mention a “higher” refresh rate for the RedMagic 12 Pro+, without a figure or a precise resolution. RedMagic has confirmed a dedicated chip for high refresh rate display.

Performance: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 leads the way

Qualcomm’s fastest chip

Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and its Extreme variant on 22 September 2026. Built on a 2 nm process, they are the first mobile chips to go past 5 GHz, with two Oryon prime cores at 5 GHz and six cores at up to 4 GHz. The Extreme version adds 50% more shared cache and gaming-specific features.

Qualcomm claims gains of 13% in CPU, 44% in graphics and 35% in AI over the previous generation. Those are manufacturer figures, but on an actively cooled phone they stand a better chance of holding up over time.

The RedMagic 12 Pro+ will not be alone: the OnePlus 16 and the iQOO 16 are expected with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. The difference will come down to how well each one keeps the chip running at full speed.

Hybrid cooling, with liquid and a fan

The 11 Pro already combined a vapour chamber, a fluorinated liquid loop and a fan spinning at 24,000 rpm. For the RedMagic 12 Pro+, the brand confirms an “ICE Magic” system with an active fan and liquid cooling, without going into detail about its design.

A 5 GHz chip runs hot, and a thinner chassis is worse at getting rid of heat. Reviews will show whether the compromise holds up over sessions of more than an hour.

Memory and storage

There are no official configurations. The press mentions up to 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The chip supports LPDDR6, but the brand has not confirmed it will use it.

Gaming on the RedMagic 12 Pro+: what changes for players

A RedMagic phone is about more than its chip: physical controls, a dedicated game mode, fine-grained display settings. Here is what you can expect from the RedMagic 12 Pro+ when gaming.

Shoulder triggers and esports chips

The touch-sensitive shoulder triggers on the side of the 11S Pro let you aim and shoot with your index fingers, just like on a controller. The RedMagic 12 Pro+ will also have dedicated esports and display chips, following on from the Red Core R4 chip in the 11 Pro.

Sustained performance over benchmark records

The real test is not the AnTuTu score but how stable the frame rate stays after twenty minutes of Genshin Impact or Call of Duty Mobile. The fan is the deciding argument against regular flagships, which often end up throttling their chip.

Emulation, cloud gaming and streaming

The Extreme chip will also benefit console emulators, which are very demanding. For cloud gaming, the Qualcomm platform supports the X105 modem and Wi-Fi 8, though it remains to be seen what RedMagic will keep. If you are weighing it up against a handheld console, read our Switch 2, Steam Deck OLED and ROG Ally comparison.

What we will be watching closely at launch:

  • The actual refresh rate and how many games can make use of it.
  • How hot the back and sides get in performance mode, with the fan on and off.
  • How loud the fan is at full speed.
  • Bypass charging, which powers the chip without drawing on the battery while you play.

Against the Asus ROG Phone, RedMagic is betting on a lower price and more aggressive cooling. That rivalry, already played out between the ROG Phone 9 Pro and the RedMagic 11 Pro, will start again with the RedMagic 12 Pro+.

Camera: not the priority, as always with RedMagic

RedMagic has said nothing about the cameras. The press expects two 50 MP rear sensors, main and ultra-wide, as on the current generation. There is no mention of a telephoto lens.

The 11 Pro shot 8K video at 30 frames per second, and the 11S Pro added autofocus to the ultra-wide. In daylight, you can hope for decent shots. At night and when zooming, these phones still lag behind camera phones at the same price.

Selfies are the trade-off of an under-display camera: the 16 MP sensor on the previous generation produced slightly soft images. That is fine for video calls. Content creators should look elsewhere.

Battery and charging: 8,400 mAh and 120 W according to leaks

A record battery, in China

According to the 23 September leak, the RedMagic 12 Pro+ battery would be 8,400 mAh, up from 8,000 mAh on the Chinese 11 Pro+, with 120 W wired and 80 W wireless charging. The more efficient 2 nm process should also help battery life while gaming.

Watch out for the European version

This is the point that should temper the excitement. The RedMagic 11 Pro sold in France only had 7,500 mAh and 80 W, against 8,000 mAh and 120 W in China, and the European 11S Pro stayed on that basis. The European model will therefore probably be less generous, something to confirm at the 15 October event.

In Lagos, Douala or Abidjan, a big battery and fast charging are real assets when the power goes out. You still need the right charger, which is not always included with imported units.

Software: RedMagic OS and the update question

The RedMagic 11S Pro shipped with Android 16 and RedMagic OS 11.5. For the RedMagic 12 Pro+, the brand has only mentioned interface improvements and new AI features, without specifying the Android version.

The interface revolves around Game Space, which gives you access to the fan, the triggers and notification blocking. Software support remains RedMagic’s long-standing weak spot, with less clear commitments than Samsung or Google, and no update policy has been announced for this model yet.

If you are importing, bear in mind that Chinese versions of RedMagic OS usually ship without Google services. Go for the global version.

RedMagic 12 Pro+ price and availability

What previous generations tell us

No price has leaked. For reference, French prices: the RedMagic 11 Pro launched at €699 (about 459,000 FCFA) with 12 + 256 GB, €799 (about 524,000 FCFA) with 16 + 512 GB and €999 (about 655,000 FCFA) with 24 GB + 1 TB. The 11S Pro followed at €799 (about 524,000 FCFA) and €899 (about 590,000 FCFA).

Our estimate, and it is only an estimate: a RedMagic 12 Pro+ price starting at around 799 to 899 euros in France. The Extreme chip costs more, and soaring memory prices are hitting every manufacturer, as explained in our article on the RAM shortage and DDR5 prices.

Where to buy it in Europe

RedMagic sells first through its official European store, then on Amazon and a few marketplaces. As of 1 October 2026, there is no RedMagic 12 Pro+ listing on Amazon, Fnac, Darty or Cdiscount in France. We will add the links as soon as they go live.

In Africa

RedMagic has no known official distribution in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire or Senegal. The RedMagic 12 Pro+ will arrive there through imports, with customs fees and no local warranty: a faulty fan will often mean sending the phone abroad. Check the 4G and 5G bands, as the global version is the safest bet for MTN, Orange or Moov.

Expected pros and cons

These lists are based on official information and leaks as of 1 October 2026. They will be revised after the launch event.

Pros

  • Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the fastest Android chip right now.
  • Active cooling with a fan and a liquid loop, ideal for long sessions.
  • Screen with no hole punch and 0.96 mm bezels.
  • 8,400 mAh battery and 120 W charging, according to leaks.
  • Thinner, rounder design built for landscape play.

Cons

  • Price and European release date still unknown.
  • European version probably less well equipped for battery and charging.
  • Selfies limited by the under-display camera.
  • Cameras behind mainstream flagships.
  • Shorter software support than Samsung or Google.

Detailed scores: awaiting review

We do not score a phone that has not been unveiled. Scores for the RedMagic 12 Pro+ will come with the official specs and the first serious reviews, across six criteria: design, display, performance, battery, camera and software.

Provisional take: if the leaks are confirmed, it should be near the top of its class for performance and battery life, and average for photography.

Alternatives: what to buy in the meantime?

Already available

RedMagic 11S Pro

The Asus alternative

Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro

Much cheaper

Infinix GT 50 Pro 5G

If you want to buy now, the RedMagic 11S Pro offers a fan and 7,500 mAh for 799 euros, and its price should drop. The Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro is still the most polished option for accessories. On a tight budget, the Infinix GT 50 Pro offers triggers and liquid cooling for less than half the price, and is easier to find in Africa.

Conclusion: should you wait for the RedMagic 12 Pro+?

If you game a lot and want the best, wait until at least 15 October. The RedMagic 12 Pro+ brings together a next-generation chip, active cooling and a big battery. And its launch will push down the price of the 11S Pro.

If you want an all-rounder that takes good photos and gets long-term updates, look elsewhere. The verdict will hinge on three unknowns: the European price, the European battery and how well a thinner chassis handles heat.

Good to know — This page will be updated after the 15 October 2026 launch event, then when the first reviews arrive. Anything marked as a rumour may change before then.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RedMagic 12 Pro+ release date in Europe?

RedMagic has not yet given a date for Europe. Only the Chinese launch is set, for 15 October 2026. In 2025, the RedMagic 11 Pro reached France on 19 November, about a month after its launch in China, with pre-orders on the official store. A similar timeline would put the RedMagic 12 Pro+ in late November or early December 2026, without confirmation.

How much will the RedMagic 12 Pro+ cost?

No price is official, and the leaks have not seriously pointed to one either. For reference, the RedMagic 11 Pro launched in France from €699 and the 11S Pro from €799 (about 524,000 FCFA). With a more expensive Extreme chip and rising memory prices, we estimate a starting price between €799 and €899 (about 524,000 to 590,000 FCFA). This is only an estimate.

Which chip powers the RedMagic 12 Pro+?

This is one of the few official details: RedMagic has confirmed the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, unveiled by Qualcomm on 22 September 2026. Built on a 2 nm process, it is the first mobile chip to reach 5 GHz. Compared with the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, which will power other high-end phones in late 2026, the Extreme version adds more cache and gaming-specific features.

Will the RedMagic 12 Pro+ be the best gaming phone of 2026?

On paper, it has everything it needs: Qualcomm’s fastest chip, a fan, liquid cooling and, according to leaks, an 8,400 mAh battery. Competition will be tough, though, from the next Asus ROG Phones and other flagships with the same kind of chip. The title will be decided by sustained performance, heat and the European price, all of which will need checking in reviews.

Can you buy the RedMagic 12 Pro+ in Cameroon or Côte d’Ivoire?

Not through official channels: RedMagic has no known distributor in French-speaking Africa. The RedMagic 12 Pro+ will come in through imports, from specialist resellers or via an order shipped from Europe. Go for the global version, with Google services and network bands better suited to local networks. Keep in mind that there is no local warranty and that customs fees add to the bill.
