Your McDonald’s app is not working: it won’t open, can’t find your restaurant, declines the payment or doesn’t show your points. In France the official app is now called McDo+, and several features depend on a phone setting or on the restaurant you pick.
Allow about fifteen minutes if you go as far as reinstalling.
Common symptoms and causes
- The app crashes or closes as soon as you open it.
- Signing in fails: the password is refused, or a verification code is expected on a new device.
- The restaurant can’t be found or Click & Collect isn’t offered: the restaurant doesn’t take part, or location access was refused for Click & Ready.
- The payment is declined or the order doesn’t go through.
- Loyalty points aren’t credited: the programme isn’t activated, the restaurant doesn’t take part, the item is excluded, or the order was placed through a delivery partner.
- Offers or Exclusivités don’t appear.
Before you start
- A McDo+ account and the email address linked to it.
- The latest version of the McDo+ app, from the App Store or Google Play.
- Location and notifications allowed if you use Click & Ready.
- The receipt for the order concerned, if the problem involves points or a payment.
Warning: Solution 4 erases data. Clearing the app’s data or uninstalling it signs you out and wipes the settings saved in the app on the phone. Write down your email and password first; from the information available, the account and points stay stored with McDonald’s, but the source doesn’t confirm it explicitly.
Solution 1: check whether McDo+ is down
We found no official service status page. Sites such as Downdetector collect reports from users: a trend, not a confirmation.
- Open Downdetector or a similar status site in your browser.
- Search for “McDonald’s” and look at the number of recent reports.
Lots of reports? Wait before trying again, because a server-side outage can’t be fixed from your phone. If there are few, the cause is probably local: move on to the next solutions.
Tip: try signing in to your account on mcdonalds.fr in a browser. If the website works and the app doesn’t, the problem lies with the app or the phone.
Solution 2: install the right app and update it
The old “McDonald’s” app no longer matches the French service. The app to use is called McDo+.
- Open the App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android.
- Search for “McDo+”.
- Install McDo+, or update it if it is already there.
Then reopen McDo+. The home screen should give access to the loyalty, Offers, delivery and Click & Collect sections.
Solution 3: the app can’t find the restaurant, so allow location
Not every feature is available everywhere. Delivery depends on the restaurant and your address. Table service and Click & Collect only cover participating restaurants.
- If you use Click & Ready, allow location and notifications for McDo+ in your phone’s settings.
- Open the restaurant locator mcdonalds.fr/restaurants and check that your restaurant offers Click & Collect.
- In the app, tap Accueil > Click & Collect.
- For delivery, check that your address is served by a participating restaurant.
- For loyalty, check that the restaurant appears in the list “Autres restaurants participant au programme”.

Good to know: according to an excerpt of the online help that we could not read in full, changing restaurant empties the basket. Make your selection again.
Solution 4: sign back in and start from a clean app
Start with the password. If signing in still fails, reset the app. For the iPhone cache in general, see our guide on how to clear the cache on an iPhone.
Warning: steps 1 and 2 replace your current password with a new one, sent by email.
- In the sign-in window, tap Mot de passe oublié.
- Enter the account’s email address: an email with a new password is sent to you.
- If the email doesn’t arrive, use the Cliquez ici. link in the same window to reach the contact form.
- On a new device, enter the code received by text message or email. According to an excerpt of the online help that we could not read in full, it is requested the first time you sign in from any device.
- If you think someone else is using your account, reset the password; we could not check this advice in the official page.
- If the app stays stuck, look for the sign-out option in the profile or the app’s menu: its location in McDo+ isn’t confirmed.
Warning: the next steps erase the app’s local data. You will be signed out and will need to sign in again. These paths haven’t been checked in an official page and may differ depending on the phone and the system version.
- On Android, open Settings > Apps > McDo+ > Storage, tap Clear cache, then Clear data if the problem persists; labels vary by manufacturer.
- On iPhone, open Settings > General > iPhone Storage, tap McDo+, then Offload App: this button keeps the app’s data, whereas Delete App erases everything.
- Reinstall McDo+ from the App Store, then sign in again.
The app should open on the home screen, signed in to your account, with your points balance shown.
Solution 5: payment declined, loyalty points missing or offers not showing
For Click & Collect, the app accepts Visa, Mastercard and PayPal. Digital meal vouchers and Chèques-Vacances Connect (French holiday vouchers) work only through the McDo+ app and mcdonalds.fr. Your account is charged only once the order is confirmed at the counter, at the drive-through or at the kiosk.
- If the first payment method is declined, choose another among those accepted: Visa, Mastercard or PayPal.
- Confirm the order at the restaurant, the drive-through or the kiosk: until you do, nothing is charged.
- If the order doesn’t go through, tell the restaurant concerned, whose details are on the locator.
- Check that your membership of the loyalty programme is activated on your account’s loyalty page.
- Identify yourself with every order, in the app or at the restaurant, then check on the receipt that the points appear.
- To use a reward, sign in, open Mes avantages, then tap J’en profite; this path comes from an excerpt of the online help that we could not read in full.
- If points have vanished, if the app’s balance differs from the kiosk’s or if an Exclusivité is missing, fill in the contact form.

Some orders earn no points: free or discounted items, local menus such as the Menu McCiné or the Maxi Menu McFirst, donations to the Foundation, delivery fees and orders placed through a delivery partner. The first tier is reached at 25 points, that is €25 spent. The pages we read give no delay for points to be credited.
Tip: photograph the receipt as soon as you order. Thermal paper fades within a few weeks, and it is the reference you will be asked for when claiming points.
Good to know: according to excerpts of the terms and conditions that we could not read in full, payments were capped at €200 per order by card and €60 via PayPal, with two PayPal orders a day. The same excerpts mention 1 point per euro, three orders a day at most, tiers from 25 to 125 points and a validity of 12 rolling months. An order not collected in time would be cancelled automatically; check these figures against the terms currently in force.

If nothing works
Stop fiddling if a payment is in question or if points have disappeared. Tell the restaurant or use the contact form. We found no official phone number or email address for these requests.
- For an order or a payment, contact the restaurant concerned first through mcdonalds.fr/restaurants.
- For loyalty or the account, use the contact form of the online help.
- For delivery, open the “La livraison” section of the online help (delay, cancellation, other incident).
Have ready the receipt, which is the reference for points, the restaurant’s name, the date and time of the order, and its number if the app shows it.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my McDonald’s app not working?
Most often it is the wrong app, it is out of date or a setting is missing. The French app is now called McDo+, Click & Ready requires location and notifications, and several services only work in participating restaurants. Also check the outage reports on Downdetector.
Why is the payment declined in the McDonald’s app?
The help pages we read give no cause for a declined payment. Check that you are paying by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal, and try another of these methods. If the order still doesn’t go through, tell the restaurant concerned.
Why don’t my McDonald’s loyalty points show up?
Points are credited only if the programme is activated on your account, if you identify yourself when ordering and if the restaurant takes part. Free or discounted items, delivery fees and orders through a delivery partner earn none. Check your receipt, then use the contact form if the points are still missing.
How can I tell whether the McDonald’s app is down?
Check Downdetector: we found no official status page for McDo+. That site shows reports from other users, which gives a trend. Many reports at the same moment point to a general problem rather than your phone.
How do I contact McDonald’s about an order problem?
Report the problem to the restaurant concerned first, whose details are on mcdonalds.fr/restaurants. For the account or loyalty, use the contact form of the online help. Keep your receipt, the restaurant’s name, the date and the time.
