ShareX is a screenshot tool for Windows, developed in the open under the GPL licence for many years now. It goes well beyond grabbing the screen: it records video, lets you mark up your captures and can publish them online on its own. It costs nothing, shows no ads and does not ask you to create an account.
What ShareX is for
ShareX can grab the full screen, a single window or monitor, a region you draw, or a whole scrolling page. It records the screen to video or to an animated GIF. The built-in editor adds arrows, text, boxes, blur or pixelation to hide anything sensitive. Each capture can trigger a chain of actions: copy to the clipboard, upload to an image host, shorten the link or turn it into a QR code. Extras include a colour picker, OCR text recognition, a QR code reader and tools for converting images and video.
Who is it for?
ShareX suits people who take a lot of screenshots: tutorial writers, testers, support teams, gamers and bloggers. There are a lot of settings to go through at first, but once your keyboard shortcuts and workflows are in place, it saves real time every day.
Download ShareX safely
