My computer is slow : How can I fix it ?

A computer is a hardware on which a multitude of tasks are performed from time to time. Beyond the fact that this hardware should be optional enough to respond in a short time to all the tasks performed by the user, we should also apply some tips to avoid facing this problem of slowness in our pc.

To address this concern, we are going to present you the causes of slow PC and we are going to give you some solutions.

The causes of slow PCs and their solutions

Excessive installation of programs

One of the causes of slowing down a PC is having too much software installed in your internal or external hard drive. So, simplify the task of your machine by avoiding the overload of your hard disk.

Running programs in the background

To run programs in the background, you will have to remove or disable all the non-useful programs that start up when the computer is started and that start automatically. You can also remove these useless programs through the task manager.

Storage of temporary files

When a computer runs programs, it stores some data as temporary files on its hard disk. Deleting these temporary files will improve your computer’s performance somewhat; you can even find programs that do it for you on the Internet.

Disorder in the classification of files on your hard disk

When using a computer, it happens that files are stored anywhere, documents in the Desktop, photos and videos in My Documents etc., in this case, defragmenting the hard disk will help to put back in order what you have put in disorder in your PC (photos in My Pictures, documents in My Documents and videos in My Videos).

Run a scan yourself to detect viruses

Some malicious programs slow down computers considerably, so it is good to install an antivirus in your PC, but it would be better to update it and even recommended to run your antivirus yourself to check for malicious programs. Because if the antivirus is not properly configured, it could let some threats through.

Hardware IRQ conflict

In the device manager, you can check if you have a conflicting device; if there is one, solve this problem because it could be the cause of the computer’s slowness.

The outdated version of its operating system and your device drivers

Check in “System and Security” if your system update is really at the latest version. If you are on the internet and your computer is slow, also make sure that all browser plugins are up to date. And if your device drivers are not up to date, this can cause slowdowns. So make sure you update any drivers you may encounter in your device manager.

The overloaded registry

When the registry is full of files or orphaned entries from installing programs and software, you should install registry cleaning software.

Slow RAM in your computer

Adding more RAM to your computer that has already taken a long time with you will prevent your computer from making temporary swap files (swap space used as a temporary location to store information that is not currently being used by RAM and allowing the system to use the hard drive to simulate the extra RAM).

Processor overheating and slowness

It should be noted that the processor is linked to a cooling system because it coordinates the tasks performed in the computer. So, dust, debris, hair and all sorts of dirt can prevent air flow in your computer and can cause overheating, so make sure the case is always clean and the ventilation is not obstructed.

You can also increase the speed of the processor either by overclocking it or by simply changing it for a faster one, remembering to get a more powerful fan than the first one to dissipate the excess heat generated by the new processor.

Your PC has been out of date for some time:

With the latest software being optimised to run on the latest computers and taking up more space, older PCs will no longer be able to run these new programs properly; this could slow them down considerably.
