Extract Video: Get nice photos is a small iPhone and iPad app from Lien Hoang, an independent developer. It does one specific job: getting a good still out of a video clip.
What Extract Video is for
You open a video from your library, scrub through it in the built-in player until you reach the right moment, and grab the frame. According to the developer, the frame is extracted in HD quality, which should look better than a screenshot taken while the clip plays. You can then save it to Photos, make light edits and share it by message, email or on social networks. The app also keeps a list of the frames you have exported.
Who is it for?
It is handy for people who shoot more video than photos: a child running, a pet, a sports move. Be aware that the app has not been updated since 2020 and the interface is in English. It is still on the App Store, but there is no guarantee it behaves well on the latest iOS releases. The free version shows ads; a one-off purchase removes them, and a premium subscription is also offered.
Download Extract Video safely
The only official source is the App Store, where the app is published by Lien Hoang. There is no Android version.
