Bitwarden keeps your passwords in a vault that is encrypted on your device before it syncs, so the company cannot read it. The code is public and is audited regularly by independent firms.

What Bitwarden is for

Remembering a single master password, generating long and different passwords for every site, filling them in automatically on your phone and your computer, and storing two-factor codes or passkeys.

Who is it for?

Anyone who still reuses the same password everywhere. The free plan is enough for most people; Premium adds reports on weak or leaked passwords and file storage.

Download Bitwarden safely

Install the app from Google Play, the App Store or bitwarden.com, and the extension from your browser’s official store. Beware of ads that imitate the login page.

Our opinion

We like

  • Free plan with no limit on devices or passwords
  • Open source code and published security audits
  • Extensions for every browser
  • Share items with family or a team

We like less

  • Security reports and file attachments need the Premium plan
  • Interface less polished than some paid rivals
