Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26: both carry the same official price, €999 (about 655,000 FCFA), and in October 2026 the Samsung is the one we recommend. It weighs 30 g less, it crunches numbers far faster, and shops already sell it for around €650 to €700 while the Google phone still hovers near €850 to €900. The Pixel keeps two serious arguments, a 5x zoom and a bigger battery. We have handled neither phone. This comparison draws on published reviews and on what owners report, so as to work out which of the two will annoy you least a month after you buy it.

Introduction: Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26, one price tag and two temperaments

Seven months separate these two phones. The Galaxy S26 has been on shelves since 11 March 2026, its Google rival only since 20 August, and that gap colours everything else: the first has had time to shed a third of its price, while the second has barely started to slide.

On paper they look like twins. A 6.3-inch screen, 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage as the starting point, an IP68 rating, seven years of updates promised on both sides. The full inventory sits in our complete Pixel 11 spec sheet and in the one for the Galaxy S26.

This Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26 match is decided elsewhere. In a jeans pocket. At a junction under the midday sun. At the back of a concert hall, arm stretched out. At 7 pm, when the battery icon turns orange and the charger has stayed at home.

A word on method: our newsroom has not handled either device. The impressions described here come from published reviews, from DXOMARK’s measurements and from buyer feedback reported in the press, each credited as we go.

Verdict in brief: the Galaxy S26 edges ahead, and price settles it

Seven rounds, four for Samsung, three for Google. It is a tight score. With a gap of about €200 (roughly 131,000 FCFA) in the Galaxy’s favour this autumn, the Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26 duel tips towards the Korean side for most buyers. The overall ratings are the ones from our spec sheets: 8 out of 10 for the Samsung, 7.8 for the Google.

Verdict in 30 seconds

8.0/10Our pick

The Galaxy S26 takes this duel thanks to its 167 g body, a markedly faster chip and a street price that has dropped to around €650 to €700. It gives up zoom photography and wireless charging to the Pixel 11.

For whom Anyone after a compact, light and fast Android phone without paying the official price, in France as in French-speaking Africa.

Avoid if Zoom photography comes first for you, or you game for hours at a stretch.

Design: thirty grams apart, and your hand notices straight away

Picture a motorbike-taxi ride between Bonapriso and Akwa, in Douala, one hand gripping the grab rail while the other replies to a message. Moments like that decide a Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26 contest far more than any press photo does.

The Samsung weighs 167 g and measures 7.2 mm thick. Its competitor comes in at 197 g and 8.6 mm. Thirty grams is nothing on a kitchen scale, yet it amounts to carrying an extra case around all the time, in a shirt pocket as much as at arm’s length when you read in bed. Width is a draw: about 72 mm each.

Google has slimmed down the camera bar, and both Pickr and L’Éclaireur Fnac confirm the phone rocks less once it is lying on a table. 91mobiles was less taken with the edge of that bar, which chips easily according to its reviewer.

The Pixel claws something back with its magnets. Built into the back and Qi2-compatible, they take a car mount, a card wallet or a snap-on battery pack directly. The Galaxy can do the same provided you dress it in a magnetic case, which costs it part of its slimness. Nicely done, Google.

Toughness is a dead heat. This round of the Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26 goes to the Samsung, because lightness pays off every minute you use the phone whereas magnets only earn their keep now and then.

Display: both readable in full sun, though Samsung sweats the details

Noon, a pavement with no shade, a route to check on Maps. Neither phone will make you squint.

Google claims a 3,000-nit peak, and Tom’s Guide measured 2,480 on its unit. Samsung promises 2,600 nits; Clubic gives the S26 panel 10 out of 10 and TechRadar calls it perfectly legible outdoors. In this Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26 pairing, the brightness difference exists on the spec sheets and much less so in the street.

The gap hides somewhere else. The Galaxy’s panel is an LTPO type, which means it slows down to 1 Hz when the picture is still. The Pixel’s knows only two speeds, 60 and 120 Hz. The upshot: if you like keeping the time and your notifications on screen permanently, the Google phone gives away a little more battery every day. At €999 at launch, that saving is hard to swallow.

Advantage Galaxy S26, by a nose. Colours are accurate on both sides according to reviewers, and this is the most closely fought round of the comparison.

Performance: Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26 after thirty minutes of gaming

No suspense here.

On the same Tom’s Guide test bench, the Galaxy S26 scores 3,531 points single-core and 10,778 multi-core in Geekbench, where the Pixel 11 stops at 2,664 and 7,347. In 3D the gap doubles: 171 frames per second against 84 in 3DMark Wild Life. Details of the chips, an Exynos 2600 on one side and a Tensor G6 on the other, are in the Samsung’s spec sheet.

Those figures change nothing for WhatsApp, YouTube or the camera app: every reviewer describes two smooth interfaces.

Now launch Genshin Impact or a 3D racing game for half an hour. The Pixel forces you to lower the graphics settings on the heaviest titles. It has one thing going for it at least: MobileSyrup notes that it runs cooler than the previous generation. The Samsung starts from a much higher level, then its frame rate wanders. Clubic describes thermal management that zigzags like the teeth of a saw in demanding games. A 7.2 mm phone does not have much room to get rid of heat.

Then there is the long haul. Both will receive updates until 2033, but a chip already outpaced in 2026 will find it harder to keep up with Android in 2031. That is our main reservation about the Google phone. This round of the Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26 goes to the Samsung, clearly.

Camera: Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26 from the back of a concert hall

Saturday night, a gig at the Palais des sports in Yaoundé or the Zénith in Paris, and a seat far from the stage. The Pixel 11 has a telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, the Galaxy S26 a 3x. On a singer’s face, that is the difference between a portrait and a silhouette.

A caveat is due right away. Phototrend finds this telephoto short on light: in daytime, at a stadium or in front of a monument, it is properly useful; in a dark venue, expect grain. The Samsung does no better at the exercise, with Clubic noting that its pictures fall apart quickly once you push the digital zoom.

For everyday photography, the Google phone stays a step ahead. DXOMARK awards it 154 points against 146 for the Galaxy, which the lab criticises for noise, colour shifts and lost detail as soon as light runs short. One blemish: 91mobiles reckons its portraits are cut out less cleanly than those of an iPhone 17.

And if you film more than you photograph, flip the ranking. The S26 gets 151 points for video at DXOMARK, against 142 for its opponent, and adds 8K. For a wedding or a story, it is the one we would grab.

Across the whole camera round of this Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26, victory goes to Google. Scores lens by lens are in our Pixel 11 spec sheet.

Good to know — Neither Cameroon, nor Senegal, nor Côte d’Ivoire is among the countries where Google sells its phones. A Pixel bought in France and carried back to Douala works, but its warranty stops at the borders of the countries the brand serves, and you need an eSIM to add a second line, something not every local operator offers.

Battery: Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26 on a day of travel with no charger

Leaving Douala at 6 am, the bus to Yaoundé, tethering for the laptop, calls, a few photos, back in the evening. Neither phone is cut out for that kind of day.

illustration-recharge-7 Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26: which Android to pick in 2026?
Illustrative photo, unrelated to the products shown. Credit: rawpixel (CC0).

The Pixel 11 does have the larger battery, 4,985 mAh against 4,300. Tom’s Guide saw it last 12 hours 45 minutes in its web-browsing test, and 91mobiles speaks of a long day with five hours of screen-on time. MobileSyrup is less kind: the phone had to be plugged back in by mid-afternoon whenever tethering was running.

On the Samsung side, Clubic ends an ordinary day with 20 to 25% in reserve. Things turn sour under sustained use. In a head-to-head test by the YouTube channel Android Addicts, picked up by GSMArena, the Exynos model, the one sold in Europe and Africa, shut down after 6 hours 48 minutes. One test, two units: handle with care.

Wired charging separates nobody. Tom’s Guide records 52% in thirty minutes on the Google phone, Clubic 55% on the Samsung, and in both cases a full tank takes about an hour and a half. When the power comes back for an hour after a cut, neither returns to 100%. No charger comes in the box.

Wirelessly, the gap is plain: 25 W with magnetic alignment for the Pixel, 15 W for the Galaxy. Dropping your phone on a stand as you reach the office is a comfort only the first offers without an accessory.

Our spec sheets give them the same score on this chapter, 7 out of 10. If this round of the Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26 has to be called, it goes to the Google phone, narrowly, for its extra reserve and its magnetic charging. Either way, slip a power bank into your bag.

Software and AI: Google’s restraint, Samsung’s abundance

Switch on a Pixel: a single app for each job, no adverts, Android 17 as Google designed it. Switch on a Galaxy: two browsers, two galleries, two app stores and a settings menu that goes on for ever.

Clubic gives Samsung’s interface 10 out of 10, TechRadar finds it cluttered. It comes down to habit: after three Galaxy phones you no longer want to live without its settings; after three Pixels, One UI feels chatty.

On longevity, a draw: seven years of support, until March 2033 for the Samsung and August 2033 for the Google. The difference lies in the pace. Pixels get each Android version on the day it comes out. S26 owners had to wait for One UI 9, the release built on Android 17: according to Phonandroid, Samsung pushed the rollout back a week at the end of September, and SamMobile only reported its arrival in Europe on 29 September, first for those enrolled in the beta programme. The saga is told in our article on One UI 9 on the Galaxy S26.

Google is not beyond reproach. In early September the company published an off-schedule update to fix bugs it described as critical itself, as the German site GoogleWatchBlog pointed out. Reassuring about its responsiveness, less so about the polish at launch.

As for artificial intelligence, be wary of demos. Ariase confirms that Rambler, the dictation tool that smooths out hesitations, works in French, but points out that the availability of the Pixel’s other features depends on the country and on a gradual rollout. Check that the feature you fancy is live where you are before you pay.

We prefer the Google version, cleaner to read and served first. A slim advantage for Google in this round of the Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26.

Price of the Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26: €999 on the label, €200 apart at the till

On paper the Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26 match is a tie: €999 (about 655,000 FCFA) with 256 GB. With 512 GB, Google asks €1,129 (about 741,000 FCFA) and Samsung €1,199 (about 786,000 FCFA). These are French prices; the reference figures are listed on the Google Store and on Samsung France’s website.

Nobody pays those prices in October.

The Pixel 11 was showing at €899 (about 590,000 FCFA) on the Google Store at the start of the month, and Presse-citron spotted it at around €848 (about 556,000 FCFA) on Amazon. The older Galaxy S26 has been changing hands for between €650 and €700 (about 426,000 to 459,000 FCFA) at the big French retailers since the summer. In late September Lesmobiles even flagged a Samsung autumn promotion that took it from €799 down to €599 (about 393,000 FCFA) with a promo code, valid until 4 October. Black Friday is coming.

From French-speaking Africa the sums are simpler still. Samsung sells its phones there officially; the Ivorian shop Mitec, for instance, lists the 256 GB model at 489,900 FCFA (about €747) with a 24-month warranty. The Pixel 11 only gets there through importers, with no after-sales service on the spot. When the time comes to resell, a Galaxy will probably find a taker faster. If you have an S26 brought over from France, get written confirmation that the warranty still holds once the phone has left Europe: in principle it is regional.

One last factor, the calendar. If Samsung sticks to its habits, a successor will arrive in early 2027 and drag the S26’s price lower again. Nothing has been announced; this is a guess. Round to the Galaxy S26: at €200 less, it is no contest.

Final verdict: Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26, which should you choose?

After a month, nobody thinks about spec sheets any more. You think about the weight in your pocket, the phone gone warm after a game, the photo of your youngest taken from too far away, the battery percentage at dinner time. By that yardstick, the Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26 match is won on points.

Choose the Galaxy S26 if you want the lightest phone, if you game now and then, if you shoot a lot of video or if every euro counts. It is also the sensible pick in Douala, Abidjan or Dakar, where the brand has shops on the high street. Our reservations are listed in our detailed take on the Galaxy S26.

Go for the Pixel 11 if photography comes before everything, if you have missed a 5x zoom for years, if you already use magnetic accessories or if Samsung’s interface wears you out. In that case wait for a deal under €850; our Pixel 11 file details the prices we have recorded.

Our pick

Samsung Galaxy S26 with 256 GB — lighter, faster and sold for around €650 to €700 (about 426,000 to 459,000 FCFA) as a European version, it beats the Pixel 11 for nearly every use except zoom photography.

Frequently asked questions

Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26: which takes the better photos?

In this Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26, the Google phone wins on photos. DXOMARK gives it 154 points against 146 for the Samsung, and its 5x optical telephoto reaches further than the Galaxy’s 3x. The Galaxy S26 regains the lead in video, with 151 points against 142. For stills, take the Google; for filming, the Samsung.

Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26: which has the better battery life?

The Pixel 11, narrowly. Its 4,985 mAh battery tops the 4,300 mAh of the Galaxy S26, and Tom’s Guide measured 12 hours 45 minutes of browsing. Both last a normal day and no more. The Exynos version of the Samsung proved fragile under heavy use in a test relayed by GSMArena. Over a cable, charging times are close; wirelessly, the Google climbs to 25 W against 15 W.

Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26: which is cheaper in October 2026?

The Galaxy S26. Both are listed at €999 (about 655,000 FCFA), but the Samsung, released in March, can be found between €650 and €700 at the big French retailers. The Pixel 11 has sat at around €850 to €900 since the start of the month. Steer clear of very low marketplace listings, which are often imported versions.

Should you buy the Pixel 11 or the Galaxy S26 if you live in French-speaking Africa?

For a Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26 seen from French-speaking Africa, the Samsung is the easier one to live with. The brand is present in Senegal, Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire, with authorised resellers and a local warranty; the Ivorian shop Mitec lists it at 489,900 FCFA. The Pixel 11 only arrives through importers, with no local after-sales service, and its second line requires an eSIM. If you have your heart set on the Google, check your operator’s 4G bands first.
