The Infinix Hot 70 Pro 5G is a solid mid-ranger with a twist: a 5G Dimensity 7100 chip, IP68 certification, a 6,000 mAh battery and a small LED display on the back that nothing else at this price can match. Selling for roughly €215 to €275 depending on the country and memory configuration, or about 140,000 to 180,000 CFA francs, it targets buyers who want a tough phone that feels quick day to day and will be supported for years. It does take a step backwards, though, with an LCD panel replacing the previous AMOLED and a weaker selfie camera. If the screen matters more to you than anything else, look elsewhere.

Introduction: a Hot that puts toughness ahead of the screen

Infinix’s Hot series sits in the middle of the catalogue: above the Smart phones, below the Note line and well away from the gaming-focused GT models. The Hot 70 Pro is the most complete Hot so far. It sits above the Infinix Hot 70, released at the end of May 2026 with a Helio G100 chip and an HD+ screen, and below the Infinix Note 60 and its 1.5K AMOLED display.

The timeline is worth spelling out. Infinix unveiled the phone globally on 16 and 17 July 2026. It reached Nigeria right after, Pakistan on 10 August and India on 4 September 2026. There is only one version, and it is 5G. What changes from one country to the next is the memory, the storage and the battery: 6,000 mAh almost everywhere, 5,600 mAh in some markets.

As for the Hot 70 Pro+, it had not been made official as of 1 October 2026. Indian price comparison sites credit it with an AMOLED screen and 33 W charging, but they disagree on the chip: Dimensity 6400 according to some, Helio G300 according to others. The previous generation did get a Hot 60 Pro+, a very thin model. Nothing is confirmed at this stage.

Verdict at a glance

Verdict in 30 seconds

7.3/10Good value

The Hot 70 Pro pairs a proper 5G chip with water and dust resistance that is rare at this price, plus five years of software support. Its LCD screen and unremarkable measured battery life stop it from dominating its class, though.

For whom Buyers who want a tough, waterproof 5G phone with long-term support, for around 140,000 to 180,000 CFA francs (about €215 to €275).

Avoid if You want an AMOLED screen, good selfies or record-breaking battery life.

Three numbers sum this phone up. The first is the chip: the Dimensity 7100, built on a 6 nm process, with four Cortex-A78 cores at 2.4 GHz. That is a clear jump from the Helio G chips in the regular Hot models. The second is the IP68 rating, quoted for immersion at 2 metres for 30 minutes, which is still rare under €300. The third is the 6,000 mAh battery, which drops to 5,600 mAh in some countries, so check the capacity of the version sold in West and Central Africa with the seller.

Design: an LED display on the back and colour-changing finishes

The Hot 70 Pro is not trying to blend in. Its camera module has three circles, but the third one is not a camera. It houses the Active Matrix Cube, a small LED matrix that shows notifications, animations, charging status and even simple games.

The colours play the same game. Thermo Orange changes shade with temperature, so under the sun in Douala or Abidjan it will not keep the same colour for long. Mirage Green, in vegan leather, reacts to UV light. Silk Glow Purple has a pearly texture that shifts with the viewing angle. Dive Blue, Night Pulse and Depth Ring White round out the range, depending on the country.

In terms of size, the phone weighs 204 to 205 grams and is 7.85 mm thick, or 7.95 mm depending on the finish. Infinix has not given consistent figures for height and width. The fingerprint reader sits on the side, in the power button. There is also a dedicated AI button, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and an infrared blaster to control a TV or an air conditioner.

Toughness is the real selling point. IP68 protects against immersion and, above all, against dust, whether from the dry season or a building site. Infinix adds the MIL-STD-810H military standard, without saying which tests were passed. A feature called Folax Speaker Cleaner uses vibration to push water out of the speakers. The frame material has not been specified.

Good to know — IP68 does not cover salt water, chlorinated pools or hot water. Manufacturers generally exclude water damage from their warranty, and based on its usual terms Infinix is no exception. Think of it as insurance against rain and dust, not an invitation to shoot underwater footage.

Display: a sharp 144 Hz LCD, but a step back from AMOLED

This is the sore point. The 2025 Hot 60 Pro had an AMOLED screen. The Hot 70 Pro switches to a 6.76-inch IPS LCD (LTPS) panel at 1,080 x 2,344 pixels. The refresh rate goes up to 144 Hz and adapts between 45 and 144 Hz depending on what is on screen. Touch sampling reaches 240 Hz, which helps in games.

LCD has its limits. Blacks look greyish and contrast is nowhere near AMOLED levels. Brightness is rated at 760 nits in normal use and 950 nits in high brightness mode. According to the review published by 91mobiles, that is only just enough in direct sunlight. The same review notes that the screen mostly stays at 90 Hz, with 144 Hz only kicking in for compatible apps.

LCD does have one practical advantage: it is cheaper to replace if it breaks, whether at Carlcare or at a local repair shop. Still, the Infinix Note 60, sold at roughly the same price in several markets, offers a far better 1.5K AMOLED screen.

Performance: the Dimensity 7100 makes the difference

The Dimensity 7100 is built on a 6 nm process. It combines four Cortex-A78 cores at 2.4 GHz, four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz and a Mali-G610 MC2 GPU. RAM is LPDDR4X, 6 or 8 GB, and storage is UFS 2.2, 128 or 256 GB depending on the country.

The published scores line up well. 91mobiles recorded around 757,000 points on AnTuTu, along with 995 single-core and 2,863 multi-core points on Geekbench. MySmartPrice got very similar AnTuTu figures, with a GPU score of around 80,000 points and 99.4% stability in the 3DMark stress test. That last figure means the chip barely loses any power as it heats up, which bodes well for long gaming sessions when it is over 30°C.

In practice, the phone handles social media, browsing, video and mobile money apps comfortably. For gaming, it runs Free Fire, Call of Duty Mobile or eFootball well, at medium to high settings depending on the title. The weak spot is the 6 GB version: 91mobiles reports slowdowns when multitasking with several apps open. If you can, go for the 8 GB model.

Storage raises another question. The Hot 60 Pro came with 256 GB in many markets, while the Indian Hot 70 Pro drops to 128 GB. Whether there is a microSD slot is also unclear: the official Indian spec sheet and Nigerian site Mobility list one, while other international spec sheets do not. Check this on the version you are buying.

Camera: a good main sensor, and that is it

The main sensor is a 50 MP Sony IMX882, 1/1.95 inch in size, with an f/1.79 aperture and phase-detection autofocus. Infinix advertises a “lossless” 2x zoom, which is really a crop from the 50 MP image. It produces clean results in good light but is no substitute for a real telephoto lens. There is no ultrawide and no useful macro: the second element in the module is a basic auxiliary sensor, and the third circle holds the LEDs.

In daylight, early published reviews describe pleasing but slightly oversaturated photos, with less detail than some rivals such as the Moto G77 Power. At night, the dedicated mode keeps noise in check but tends to push colours and processing too hard. Portrait mode cuts out faces cleanly. With no optical stabilisation announced, you will want to keep a steady hand.

For video, the Hot 70 Pro records in 2K at 30 frames per second and in Full HD at 30 or 60 frames per second. A one-tap vlog mode records with both cameras at once, handy for content creators just starting out on TikTok.

Finally, the selfie camera goes backwards. The front camera drops from 13 MP on the Hot 60 Pro to 8 MP, with an f/2.0 aperture. Opinions are mixed: 91mobiles finds skin tones fairly natural, while MySmartPrice gives it a low 5.5 out of 10 for lack of detail. Fine for video calls, not for polished selfies.

Battery and charging: a big cell, average endurance

On paper, 6,000 mAh promises long battery life. The published measurements are more mixed. In the PCMark test, which simulates mixed use, 91mobiles and MySmartPrice both recorded around 13 hours. That is below what many rivals with a similar battery manage. In practice, expect a full day of heavy use and a day and a half of moderate use.

The LCD screen and the 144 Hz refresh rate probably weigh on that result: cap the refresh rate at 60 or 90 Hz to gain a few hours.

45 W wired charging fills the battery in just over an hour, around 1 hour 10 minutes according to published measurements. The charger is included in the box according to the Pakistani and international spec sheets; for West and Central Africa, check with the seller. A useful touch during power cuts: the phone can charge another device over a cable at 10 W. There is no wireless charging.

When the power goes out, the Hot 70 Pro is a good companion, if not the best. If you live with long outages, the Tecno Pova 8 uses the same chip and goes up to 8,000 mAh, for a slightly higher price.

Software: XOS 16 and a real support commitment

The Hot 70 Pro runs Android 16 with Infinix’s XOS 16 skin. The good news is the length of support: three major Android versions, so up to Android 19, and five years of security patches, which takes it to 2031. For a Transsion mid-ranger, that is a more generous commitment than the Hot range has offered until now. How quickly updates actually roll out remains to be seen.

The AI features revolve around Folax, Infinix’s own assistant, called up with a dedicated button on the side. The One-Tap AI button launches, among other things, AI FlashMemo, which captures and files information shown on screen. Google adds Circle to Search. The Active Matrix Cube is configured in the settings: choice of animations, which notifications are shown, mini-games.

One feature deserves attention from African readers: UltraLink. It lets you make voice calls between compatible Infinix phones over Bluetooth, with no mobile network, at a claimed range of up to 1.5 km in open terrain. Useful during a network outage, provided the person you are calling has a compatible device.

The downside is a familiar one: XOS ships with preinstalled apps and promotional suggestions in some menus. Most of them can be uninstalled in a few minutes.

Price and availability: official in Nigeria and India, expected in the CFA franc zone

As of 1 October 2026, we had found no official price in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire or Senegal. The known prices come from other markets. In Nigeria, the Hot 70 Pro is listed at 399,900 naira for 6 GB + 128 GB and 479,900 naira for 8 GB + 256 GB, or about €230 and €275, or 150,000 and 180,000 CFA francs. In Pakistan, the 8 GB + 128 GB version costs 85,000 Pakistani rupees, about €260 or 170,000 CFA francs.

In India, the 4 September launch price was 22,999 rupees for the 6 GB + 128 GB version, including launch offers, or about €215 (140,000 CFA francs). Without promotions, Indian sources put the price at around 24,999 rupees, and the 8 GB + 128 GB version is listed at 27,999 rupees on the official store. These conversions are only a guide.

Once it officially reaches authorised stores, it will come with the Infinix warranty and access to the Carlcare after-sales network, present in the major cities of West and Central Africa; check the length of the warranty with the seller. Also check that the 5G bands match those of your operator, MTN or Orange for example.

In France, Infinix does not officially distribute this model. We found no product listing on Amazon.fr, Fnac, Darty or Cdiscount. Only third-party sellers importing the phone might offer it, with no European warranty.

The Infinix Hot 70 keeps the 6,000 mAh battery and 45 W charging for around €130, with a Helio G100 chip, an HD+ screen and 4G only. The Infinix Note 60 is the most serious rival: a 1.5K AMOLED screen, a Dimensity 7400 and an aluminium build for a similar price, but only IP64. The Tecno Pova 8 uses the same Dimensity 7100 chip with an 8,000 mAh battery, for a few tens of euros more.

Conclusion: should you buy the Infinix Hot 70 Pro?

The Hot 70 Pro is a good phone for anyone who values toughness and longevity: a 5G chip that copes well with games, IP68 against dust and rain, and software support until 2031.

That does not make it the best choice in its class. The move to LCD, the 8 MP selfie camera and unremarkable measured battery life are real steps back from the Hot 60 Pro. For a similar price, the Note 60 offers a much better screen. Choose the Hot 70 Pro if water resistance and durability come before everything else. Get the 8 GB version, and wait to see whether a Hot 70 Pro+ with an AMOLED screen materialises before making up your mind.

Good to know — before you buy, check three things with the seller: the battery capacity (6,000 or 5,600 mAh), whether there is a microSD slot and where the phone comes from. An official local version gets you the Carlcare warranty and 5G bands suited to your operator.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the Infinix Hot 70 Pro cost in Cameroon?

As of 1 October 2026, Infinix had not announced an official price in Cameroon or anywhere else in the CFA franc zone. Based on prices in Nigeria, Pakistan and India, expect somewhere between about 140,000 and 180,000 CFA francs (roughly €215 to €275), depending on the memory configuration.

Does the Infinix Hot 70 Pro support 5G?

Yes. The Hot 70 Pro only comes in a 5G version, thanks to its MediaTek Dimensity 7100 chip. It also works on 4G, 3G and 2G, with two nano-SIM cards. To use 5G, your operator needs to offer it in your city and the phone’s bands need to match those of the network.

Is the Infinix Hot 70 Pro waterproof?

It is IP68 certified, which means it is fully protected against dust and, according to Infinix, can survive immersion at a depth of 2 metres for 30 minutes. It also meets the MIL-STD-810H military standard. This protection applies to clean fresh water. Seawater, swimming pools and hot water are best avoided, and water damage is generally not covered by the warranty.

How many updates will the Infinix Hot 70 Pro get?

Infinix promises three major Android upgrades and five years of security patches. Since the phone ships with Android 16 and XOS 16, it should get Android 17, 18 and 19, and stay protected until around 2031. That is a more generous commitment than previous Hot models received. The pace of updates may vary from country to country, though.
