On October 27, 2026, Apple introduced its 14-inch MacBook Pro M6 and a 24-inch iMac running the same chip. Pre-orders open on October 28, with first deliveries and in-store pickup set for November 6. US pricing is unchanged: $1,999 for the laptop and $1,499 for the iMac. An OLED iPad mini rounds out the announcement.

MacBook Pro M6: more graphics and AI muscle

The MacBook Pro M6 packs a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU. Compared with the M5, Apple claims up to 30% faster graphics and up to 25% faster AI workloads, or roughly 1.3 times faster overall. It also measures the chip against the M1 MacBook Pro, saying prompt processing for large language models runs up to 13 times faster. These are Apple’s own figures and still need independent testing.

Unified memory starts at 16GB and goes up to 32GB, with bandwidth of up to 170GB/s versus 153GB/s on the M5. The entry configuration at $1,999 pairs 16GB of memory with 1TB of storage, just like the previous generation.

Ports, battery and charging

  • Three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, MagSafe 3, an SDXC card reader and a headphone jack.
  • Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, courtesy of Apple’s N1 networking chip.
  • Up to 24 hours of battery life, and 50% charge in 30 minutes with a compatible high-wattage USB-C adapter.
  • A 12-megapixel camera, in space black or silver.

iMac M6: on-device AI takes center stage

The 24-inch M6 iMac keeps its 4.5K Retina display, camera, speakers and dimensions. The real change is inside: Apple promises up to five times the on-device AI performance of the M4 iMac. The N1 chip brings Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread, and a 2.5Gb Ethernet port is available as an option.

The base model makes do with two Thunderbolt 4 ports. A 12-core version adds two more and starts at $1,699. The machine comes in seven colors and ships with macOS 27.

The OLED iPad mini joins in

Apple also refreshed the iPad mini. It gets an 8.5-inch OLED screen with 1,200 nits of peak brightness, the A20 Pro chip found in the iPhone 18 Pro, 128GB of base storage and, on the 5G model, Apple’s in-house C2 modem. It costs $699, which is $150 more than its predecessor, and follows the same release schedule.

What it means for you

The MacBook Pro M6 starts at the same price as the M5 model. If you already own an M5, the claimed gains rarely justify an upgrade. If you are coming from an M1 or M2, the jump is far more noticeable, especially for video editing, 3D work or running AI models locally. Euro pricing was not available in the sources we checked, so wait for Apple’s local listing before comparing.

The bottom line

The MacBook Pro M6 and the M6 iMac bet on local AI while holding their US starting prices. First deliveries land on November 6, so tell us in the comments whether either one tempts you.
