How to recover a deleted Snapchat account
Snapchat is a very popular app, but sometimes you may delete your account by mistake or on purpose. Fortunately, there are several ways to try to recover it. Follow our guide to regain access to your deleted Snapchat account.
If your Snapchat account has been deleted and you want to recover it, Snapchat gives you 30 days to change your mind. After this period, your account and all associated data (snaps, friends, chats, stories, location data, etc.) will be permanently deleted, and you will not be able to recover any files or data.
If you deleted your account and are still within the time limit, here are the steps to recover it:
- First, simply open your Snapchat app.
- Then, click on “Log In.”
- Enter your username and password. Note that you cannot use your email address for this process.

- Finally, click on “Log In” and wait, as account recovery can sometimes take 24 hours or more.
If the 30-day period has passed, you can contact Snapchat support, although the chances are very low since your data has already been deleted:
- First, open your browser and search for Snapchat Support.

- Go to the Snapchat support page and type “deleted account” in the search bar.

- You will see the option “How to delete or deactivate my Snapchat account.” Click on “Delete or Reactivate my account.”

Then click on “How to reactivate a Snapchat account.”
You will find an article where Snapchat clearly explains the account deletion policy. If you have passed the 30-day period, as mentioned above, you will simply need to create a new account with different credentials to continue using the app.

Check if your account was hacked
If your account may have been deleted due to hacking, you can try to recover it by resetting your password.
- Open the Snapchat app.
- Click on “Forgot Password.”
- Choose the reset option via email or SMS.
- Follow the instructions to set a new password.
If your account was hacked and deleted by a third party, recovery becomes more difficult, but contacting Snapchat support remains your best option.
Prevent losing your Snapchat account
To avoid losing your account in the future, here are some tips:
- Enable two-factor authentication in Snapchat settings.
- Make sure your email address and phone number are linked to your account.
- Use a strong and unique password.
- Avoid sharing your login information with anyone.
If your Snapchat account has been deleted, you have several options to try to recover it, especially by reactivating it within 30 days or contacting support. Take preventive measures to avoid losing your account in the future.
