Realme GT 5: A concentrate of performance and design

Realme has released official renders of the much-anticipated Realme GT 5, giving us a glimpse of the device’s bold design ahead of its scheduled launch on August 28. The renders have also confirmed some key specifications for the phone, including a variant offering an impressive 250W fast charging technology.

Striking design of the Realme GT 5:

The renders reveal a captivating aesthetic, with a metallic silver colour, two imposing camera rings and a translucent panel that hints at LED light, reminiscent of the Realme GT Neo 3. One of the camera rings houses two sensors, giving a total of three cameras on the back of the phone. The adjacent panel also reveals the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 logo, confirming the powerful technology on board.

The new look of Realme’s smartphone, according to CEO Wu Qi Chase, is achieved using glass technology that is revolutionary in the mobile industry. It will be regarded as the most beautiful smartphone in the brand’s history. The colour of the flagship model is called ‘Flowing Silver Mirror’ and will be produced using a hot-forged glass bending technique for ultimate aesthetics.

The Realme GT 5’s battery has also been confirmed, with GaN charging support of up to 240W. Here’s what we know and look forward to:

Expected features of the Realme GT 5 :

Screen:

The Realme GT 5 is expected to feature a 6.74-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution. It will also feature a 144Hz refresh rate, 2,160 PWM dimming for improved flicker control, and an integrated fingerprint reader. Realme has also introduced an independent X7 display chip, designed to optimise video frame rates.

Cameras:

On the front, we can expect a 16MP sensor dedicated to selfies and video calls. At the back, we’re likely to find a 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera (with optical image stabilisation), an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 2MP macro module.

Processor:

As the GT 5 renders suggest, the phone will feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip coupled with Adreno 740 graphics; and a SuperVOOC S power management chip that will take care of the battery cell. Realme could also feature the latest version of its user interface, Realme UI 4.0 based on Android 13.

It has been announced that the new handset will come with a separate display chip for optimised visual performance and an even better refresh rate.

Memory:

The Realme GT 5 will deliver peak performance with up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage (UFS 4.0).

Battery and charging:

The phone will come with a substantial battery, with teasers confirming a 5,240mAh battery. But, iThere could be two variants of the phone. The second option would have a 4,600 mAh cell. When it comes to charging, the Realme GT 5 promises a lightning-fast experience thanks to its 240W fast charging technology, which would offer around 2 hours of talk time on a 30-second charge; there would also be a 150W charge for the second option.
