Huawei P60 Pro vs iPhone 14 Pro: Which one is best?

The recent release of the Huawei P60 Pro has not gone unnoticed on the web to the point where it has already been compared to the Galaxy S23 Ultra in one of our recently published articles. This time, it’s the Apple monster’s turn to arm wrestle with Huawei’s new prodigy. From design, conception, display, camera, performance, battery and charging; no point has been overlooked. This comparison guide pits the iPhone 14 Pro against the Huawei P60 Pro to see which is better.

Design and layout

The iPhone 14 Pro comes in deep purple, gold, silver and sidereal black colors. It has a Ceramic Shield front panel, a textured matte glass back as well as a stainless steel design. It measures 147.5 x 71.5 x 7.9 mm and weighs 206 g. As for waterproofing, the Apple smartphone has an IP68 rating (up to 6 meters deep for up to 30 minutes).

The Huawei P60 Pro measures 161 x 74.5 x 8.3 mm for a weight of 200 g. It is available in black, emerald green, purple and white. This phone is IP68 certified offering resistance to dust and water (up to 1.5 meters deep for up to 30 minutes).

The Huawei phone is longer, wider and thicker than the iPhone 14 Pro. Apple’s phone on the other hand is heavier and looks more waterproof than its rival.

Huawei P60 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro display

Huawei’s phone features a 6.67-inch LTPO OLED display. This is a screen that offers a 120 Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2700 x 1220 pixels at 444 dpi. This screen is protected by Kunlun glass.

Apple’s phone has a Super Retina XDR display. This is a 6.1-inch HDR OLED display that boasts a resolution of 2,556 x 1,179 pixels at 460 dpi and a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits.

With ProMotion technology, the iPhone 14 Pro’s True Tone display comes with an adaptive refresh rate capable of 120 Hz and several other features. The iPhone 14 Pro’s screen has an oleophobic coating for increased resistance to fingerprints.

The Huawei P60 Pro’s screen offers a better resolution and a larger size than the iPhone 14 Pro’s screen. As for the latter, it stands out with a brighter and more robust screen. In terms of display, the 14 Pro will be slightly better than the Huawei P60 Pro.

Which of the two phones is more powerful?

Huawei’s new smartphone packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC paired with an Adreno 730 GPU and comes in two models namely the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage and the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage.

Huawei’s P60 Pro comes with a HarmonyOS 3.1 or EMUI operating system. This phone is limited to 4G and does not support 5G or Google services. (Like the Play store for example)

The iPhone 14 Pro runs on iOS 16, one of the most secure smartphone operating systems in the world. It supports 5G and features an A16 Bionic chip accompanied by a 5-core GPU.

The 14 Pro’s chipset is backed by 6GB of RAM and internal storage of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB or 1TB. The A16 Bionic in the 14 Pro is more powerful than the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in the Huawei P60 Pro. The iPhone 14 Pro also comes with more storage space than its rival.

Even though the Huawei P60 Pro has more RAM, Apple’s monster is still the better performing device.

Can the Huawei P60 Pro shoot better than the iPhone 14 Pro?

The rear panel of the Huawei P60 Pro houses a 48 MP main camera paired with a 13 MP ultra wide angle sensor and a 48 MP telephoto lens. For selfies, the device has a 13 MP front camera on the front.

On the back, the iPhone 14 Pro has a 48 MP main lens, a 12 MP ultra wide angle sensor, a 12 MP 2x telephoto lens and a 12MP 3x telephoto lens. For selfies, it comes with a 12 MP front camera.

The Huawei P60 Pro has not yet been rated on DXOMAK. However, we know that its predecessor is in 7th place with a score of 143 points in the overall ranking of phones that offer the best camera.

On the other hand, the 1’iPhone 14 Pro stands out with a score of 146 points in 5th place. Apple has always been known for the good quality and rendering of the cameras built into its smartphones. So even if Huawei’s new phone comes with a more powerful camera than its predecessor, the iPhone 14 Pro will remain the best in terms of photography.

This assumption is confirmed, since the Huawei P60 Pro was tested on Nanoreview. It scored 83 points for its camera against 87 points for the iPhone 14 Pro’s camera score.

Battery and charging

The Huawei P60 Pro has a 4,815 mAh Li-Po battery and supports 88W wired fast charging as well as 50W wireless fast charging.

Apple’s phone, meanwhile, comes with a 3,200-mAh Li-Ion battery. According to Apple, the battery of its device offers an autonomy of 20h in video streaming, 23h in video playback and 75h in audio playback.

The 14 Pro supports 15W MagSafe wireless charging, 7.5W Qi wireless charging as well as USB charging with a 20W or more adapter (50% charge in about 30 min)

The Huawei P60 Pro comes with a more powerful battery and supports a more advantageous charging than the one compatible with the Apple device.
