An update to the system software of the Huawei WATCH GT 2 and Huawei WATCH GT 2e smart watches now allows both watches to support third-party application downloads. The updated watches are the Huawei Watch GT 2 46mm, GT 2 42mm and GT 2e.
The content of the update for all three watches is pretty much the same. As well as supporting third-party app downloads, there is also the ability to install heart health research apps, measure heart health related data via the watch and optimise system stability in certain scenarios.
Users eligible for the update can download it by going to Sports Health. Then, Click on the connected device in the smartphone interface and then access the device details page. Now search for “firmware update” and tap on it to update your Watch GT 2 version.
To download third-party apps, you need to use the Huawei smartphone sports and health app. It must be downloaded via EMUI 4.0 and above or HarmonyOS.
Both watches arrived on the market a few years ago. The Huawei WATCH GT 2 arrived a year earlier in 2019. Both Huawei connected watches are very popular and belong to the high-end category.
The Huawei WATCH GT 2 received another system update in May 2021. This update brought many improvements. In addition to optimising the stability of the system, it also added customised sports features and remote camera functions.
The Huawei Watch GT 2 was launched in two dial sizes: 42mm and 46mm. There are also many colour options.
The watch is powered by the Kirin A1 chipset made by Huawei itself. It is exclusive to Huawei wearable devices. The 455mAh battery inside the 46mm variant offers 14 days of battery life. It runs on Lite OS based on Google’s WearOS. Unlike the larger version, the 42mm model lasts up to a week.
To interact with you, there is a 1.39-inch AMOLED screen on the 46mm version and a 1.2-inch screen on the 42mm model. Several watch faces are also available.
The watch can show you notifications from apps, including SMS messages, emails, calendar and social networking apps. This is truly a high-end smart watch. As such, it gives you tons of sensors, including an optical heart rate sensor, geomagnetic sensor, gyroscopic sensor, accelerometer sensor, ambient light sensor and air pressure sensor.
Finally, Huawei WATCH GT 2 is waterproof to 5ATM and can track a variety of outdoor and indoor sports activities. These include running, walking, hiking, cycling, open water swimming and triathlons.
