The Tecno Spark Go 3 is a decent entry-level smartphone for anyone who wants a smooth screen, a serious battery and a bit of ruggedness without spending more than about 60,000 FCFA. Released in January 2026, it pairs a Unisoc T7250 chip with a 6.74-inch 120 Hz screen, a 5,000 mAh battery and IP64 protection. Its bigger sibling, the Spark Go 3 Pro, arrived at the end of August and bets everything on toughness, with claimed IP68 and IP69 ratings, but its price puts it up against better-equipped phones. The Go 3 works as a first smartphone, a work phone or a backup handset; the Go 3 Pro is aimed at people who work outdoors, provided you can find it at the right price.

Introduction: the Spark Go 3, the gateway to Tecno’s range

The Spark Go line sits on the very bottom rung of Tecno’s catalogue, below the Tecno Spark 50 and the Pova models. The Spark Go 3 was announced in India on 16 January 2026 and went on sale from 23 January. It then reached the Philippines in early February, followed by Nigeria and Kenya.

The Spark Go 3 Pro was unveiled on 28 August 2026, again in India, with sales opening on 4 September. It gets a different processor, screen, battery and software, and Tecno bills it as the first phone in its class to claim both IP68 and IP69. This page covers both models and spells out, section by section, what sets them apart.

On price, the Spark Go 3 sits between roughly 45,000 and 59,000 FCFA depending on the market, while the Pro starts at the equivalent of 105,000 FCFA in India. That is a huge gap for two phones with similar performance, and it is the key question this page tries to answer.

Verdict in 30 seconds

6.8/10Budget pick

The Tecno Spark Go 3 covers the essentials at a rock-bottom price: 120 Hz screen, 5,000 mAh, IP64 and a headphone jack. The Spark Go 3 Pro adds genuine water resistance and stereo speakers, but it costs almost twice as much.

For whom A first smartphone, a work or backup phone, parents, students and small traders with a budget of around 45,000 to 60,000 FCFA. The Pro suits jobs exposed to water and dust.

Avoid if You game regularly, you want good night photos, 5G or several years of guaranteed Android updates.

Three numbers matter here. First, the 120 Hz refresh rate on both models, which makes everyday scrolling more pleasant than on most phones at this price. Second, the 4 GB of RAM, the same on the Go 3 and Go 3 Pro, which limits multitasking whatever virtual RAM promises. Third, storage: the 64 GB version fills up very quickly once the system and preinstalled apps are in place, so the 128 GB model is the one to go for.

Design: plastic, but built to take a knock

The Spark Go 3 measures 167.7 x 77.8 x 8.1 mm. It weighs around 182 grams according to spec databases, as Tecno has not officially stated it. The front is glass, the back and frame are plastic. Nothing luxurious, but a compact package for a 6.74-inch screen.

It comes in Titanium Grey, Ink Black, Galaxy Blue and Aurora Purple, depending on the market. The fingerprint reader sits on the side, in the power button. Tecno keeps the 3.5 mm headphone jack, FM radio and an infrared blaster for controlling a TV, air conditioner or set-top box.

The Go 3’s real strength is its durability. It is IP64-rated: dust-tight and protected against splashing water. It cannot handle being submerged, but a downpour, a spilt glass or the red dust of unpaved roads should not put it at risk. Tecno also claims drop resistance up to 1.2 metres.

The Spark Go 3 Pro is slightly larger: 168.32 x 79.22 x 8.04 mm and 194 grams. It comes in Burgundy Red, Eclipse Black, Mist Silver and Sunrise Orange. Its spec sheet lists IP68 and IP69, with immersion down to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes and resistance to high-pressure water jets, plus SGS-certified protection against 1.5-metre drops. Tecno adds a feature that keeps the screen usable with wet fingers.

Good to know — Some databases, including GSMArena according to a Gagadget article, listed the Spark Go 3 Pro as IP64 at launch, even though Tecno advertises IP68 and IP69. Until the official spec sheet for your country confirms it, avoid submerging the phone. Seawater and soapy water are never covered anyway.

Display: smooth 120 Hz, but only HD+

The Spark Go 3 uses a 6.74-inch IPS LCD panel at 720 x 1,600 pixels, or about 260 pixels per inch. Its highlight is the 120 Hz refresh rate. Scrolling feels noticeably smoother than on the 60 Hz screens still common at this price.

At HD+, small text lacks sharpness, and published reviews note that YouTube tops out at 720p on this model. Tecno does not disclose the screen’s peak brightness. Expect decent readability in the shade, and more of a struggle under the midday sun in Douala or Abidjan.

The Spark Go 3 Pro moves up to 6.78 inches, still LCD and still HD+ (720 x 1,526 pixels), with 120 Hz, a 240 Hz touch sampling rate and a claimed 580 nits peak. A little better on paper, but not a different class of screen. One Indian reviewer also points out that the adaptive mode is best forced to 120 Hz for consistently smooth scrolling, at the cost of some battery life. For social media and everyday video, both screens do the job.

Performance: enough for daily use, nothing more

The Spark Go 3 runs on a Unisoc T7250 chip built on a 12 nm process: two Cortex-A75 cores at 1.8 GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores at 1.6 GHz and a Mali-G57 MP1 GPU. It is backed by 4 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, which can be virtually extended to 8 GB by borrowing storage, and 64 or 128 GB of storage with a microSD slot.

Published scores give a clear picture. Benchmark databases show around 364,000 points in AnTuTu 11, just over 400 points single-core in Geekbench 6 and about 1,400 multi-core. These figures remain indicative until an independent review confirms them. In practice, WhatsApp, video calls, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, mobile money and web browsing work fine. Heavier apps open slowly, and multitasking often forces apps to reload.

For gaming, keep your expectations in check. Light titles and card games run without trouble. Free Fire or eFootball should launch, but at minimum graphics settings, and the experience will never match a Tecno Pova 8. The 12 nm chip stays fairly cool in everyday use, but a long gaming session in the afternoon heat will warm up the plastic back.

The Spark Go 3 Pro switches to a MediaTek Helio G81, also 12 nm, with a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU, 4 GB of LPDDR4X (up to 12 GB with virtual RAM) and UFS 2.2 storage. One published spec sheet credits it with around 371,000 points in AnTuTu, barely more than the Go 3. The gain comes mostly from faster storage, not from extra horsepower. A Gagadget listing mentioned a Unisoc T7250 for the Pro, but most sources point to the Helio G81. The chip could vary by market, so check the retailer’s listing before buying.

Camera: one real sensor, for daylight

On the Spark Go 3, photography comes down to a 13 MP main sensor with autofocus and a dual LED flash. There is no ultrawide or telephoto, and 2x digital zoom quickly loses detail, according to reviews published in the Philippines. On the front, an 8 MP fixed-focus selfie camera sits in a punch-hole, with a front flash.

In daylight, early reviews rate the results better than expected for the price: usable shots for WhatsApp, Facebook or an Instagram product catalogue. At night, though, the same reviews report slow processing and images that quickly lose detail. On a poorly lit street or during a power cut, don’t expect miracles.

Video is limited to 1080p, with no optical stabilisation and few shooting options. Fine for a video call, not for polished content.

The Spark Go 3 Pro follows the same approach: a 13 MP main camera at f/1.8 with autofocus, and an 8 MP f/2.0 selfie camera with screen flash. An Indian review reports decent detail in good light, and nothing more.

Battery and charging: long-lasting, but slow to refill

The Spark Go 3 has a 5,000 mAh battery. Combined with an HD+ screen and a frugal chip, it delivers good results: a Philippine review measured 17 h 32 min in PCMark, a score that puts the phone among the better performers in its class. A full day of heavy use is realistic, a day and a half with light use.

The downside is charging. At 15 W, the Go 3 needs close to two hours for a full charge and gets back roughly half its battery in 40 minutes, according to measurements published by a spec database. If you deal with power cuts, plug it in as soon as the electricity comes back, and keep a power bank close at hand.

The Spark Go 3 Pro moves up to 5,200 mAh. On charging, sources disagree: 10 W according to the Indian press release and one published review, 15 W according to other spec sheets. If it is 10 W, expect well over two and a half hours for a full charge. One Indian spec sheet also lists reverse charging, handy for topping up another phone, a feature worth confirming with the retailer. No reliable independent battery test was available at the time of writing.

Software: HiOS, Ella and too many preinstalled apps

The Spark Go 3 runs Android 15 with the HiOS 15 interface. This is not an Android Go edition but the full version of the system. It includes the Ella assistant, which can answer questions or trigger actions, along with writing assistance, document summaries and a translator. Tecno does not specify whether Ella supports French.

The weak spot is a familiar one with Transsion: preinstalled apps. Published reviews put them at around 1 GB on the Go 3, including games, app stores and in-house services. Most can be uninstalled, so do it the first time you switch the phone on, especially on the 64 GB version.

The Spark Go 3 Pro ships straight with Android 16 and HiOS 16, which puts it one version ahead. It adds AI noise reduction during calls, useful in a busy market or a noisy taxi. For both models, Tecno has published no Android update policy and no security patch timeline.

Price and availability: in Africa and Asia, not in France

As of 1 October 2026, Tecno has not announced an official FCFA price for the Spark Go 3, whether in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire or Senegal. Prices seen elsewhere give a solid benchmark. For the 4 + 64 GB version: 8,999 rupees in India at launch, 4,499 pesos in the Philippines and about 140,000 naira in Nigeria, which works out at between €69 and €90 (45,000 to 59,000 FCFA). For the 4 + 128 GB version: 4,999 pesos in the Philippines, about €77 (50,000 FCFA), and 18,000 shillings at a Kenyan retailer, about €120 (79,000 FCFA, shop price). In West and Central Africa, an indicative range of €76 to €99 (50,000 to 65,000 FCFA) depending on storage looks realistic, to be confirmed with the retailer.

The Spark Go 3 Pro sells for 15,999 rupees with 64 GB and 16,999 rupees with 128 GB in India, or about €160 and €170 (105,000 and 111,000 FCFA). Its launch was also covered in Kenya, but its availability and price in French-speaking Africa had not been confirmed at the time of writing. At that price, it runs into better-equipped rivals, including from Tecno itself: the Tecno Pop X 5G is listed at the same price in India with a Dimensity 6400 chip, 6,500 mAh and 45 W charging.

Buy from an authorised retailer if you can, and get a receipt. Tecno’s warranty is handled by the Carlcare network, which is present in major cities across Africa, and a phone imported outside official channels can cause problems when it needs repairing. Ask the seller how long the warranty lasts in your country. Both models are 4G only and take two nano-SIMs. In France, neither the Go 3 nor the Go 3 Pro is officially sold, and they cannot be found on Amazon, Fnac, Darty or Cdiscount.

Alternatives to the Tecno Spark Go 3

Direct rival

Infinix Smart 20

Longer battery life

Tecno Spark 50 (4G et 5G)

With 5G

Tecno Pop X (4G et 5G)

The Infinix Smart 20 is the most direct competitor: Helio G81, 6.78-inch 120 Hz screen, 5,200 mAh, 18 W charging and IP64, from 139,800 naira in Nigeria, but with 8 MP cameras only. The Tecno Spark 50, at around 70,000 FCFA for the 4G version, has a much bigger battery and a 50 MP sensor. Finally, the Tecno Pop X 5G is the one to consider if you are looking at Spark Go 3 Pro money: same budget in India, but with 5G, a much faster chip and 45 W charging.

Conclusion: should you buy the Tecno Spark Go 3?

Yes, if your budget tops out at around 60,000 FCFA. The Spark Go 3 delivers what you expect from a good entry-level phone in 2026: a smooth screen, reassuring battery life, real resistance to dust and splashes, and full Android 15. It shines neither for photos nor for gaming, and its 15 W charging calls for patience. Get the 128 GB version if it is available: the price difference is small and the extra breathing room is real.

The Spark Go 3 Pro is harder to recommend. Its IP68 and IP69 ratings, stereo speakers and Android 16 are real advantages for a delivery rider, a farmer or a construction worker. But at the Indian price, the premium is huge for almost identical performance. Wait for its African price, and only buy it if water resistance is your absolute priority.

Good to know — Before paying, check the exact model on the box (Go 3 or Go 3 Pro), the storage capacity and that you get a receipt. In this segment, price differences between retailers often exceed 10,000 FCFA, and only a purchase through official channels gives you access to the Carlcare warranty.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the Tecno Spark Go 3 cost in Cameroon?

Tecno had not published an official FCFA price at the time of writing. Prices elsewhere still allow a reliable estimate: around 45,000 to 59,000 FCFA for the 4 + 64 GB version, based on launch prices in India, the Philippines and Nigeria. In shops in Cameroon, expect something closer to 50,000 to 65,000 FCFA depending on storage and retailer. The Spark Go 3 Pro should cost considerably more, since it sells for the equivalent of 105,000 FCFA in India.

Does the Tecno Spark Go 3 support 5G?

No. The Spark Go 3 and Spark Go 3 Pro are 4G-only phones with two nano-SIM slots. For the vast majority of users in Africa, that is not a problem, since 4G remains the most widespread and most stable network. For 5G, you need to step up to the Tecno Pop X 5G or the Spark 50 5G.

Is the Tecno Spark Go 3 waterproof?

Not in the sense of surviving immersion. The Spark Go 3 is IP64-rated: it is dust-tight and resists splashing water, such as rain or a spilt drink, but it should not be dunked in water. The Spark Go 3 Pro is advertised as IP68 and IP69, which covers immersion down to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes and high-pressure water jets. Some spec sheets did list it as IP64 at launch, though, so check the rating printed on your model’s box.

How many Android updates will the Tecno Spark Go 3 get?

Tecno has made no specific commitment for this model, either in number of Android versions or in length of security support. The Spark Go 3 ships with Android 15 and HiOS 15, the Go 3 Pro with Android 16 and HiOS 16. On entry-level models, Transsion generally offers few major updates. So assume you will be using the version installed at purchase for a long time, and install the patches offered in the settings as soon as they arrive.
