The Apple Watch Series 11 left Apple’s store the day the Series 12 walked in, and that quiet exit suits it: retailers have already marked it down to €349 (about 229,000 FCFA), a hundred euros under its replacement. Same case, same panel, same advertised 24 hours. What it gives up is the new heart-rate tracking and a handful of watchOS 27 features. Under €350, we recommend it without being asked twice. At €449, forget it.
Introduction: thirteen months on the shelf, then a successor at the same price
Apple presented the Apple Watch Series 11 on 9 September 2025 and put it on sale ten days later, at €449 in 42 mm and €479 (about 314,000 FCFA) in 46 mm, as the French launch press release recalls. The welcome had been polite. From the unboxing onwards, WatchGeneration was asking whether it was “really necessary”, so closely did it resemble the Series 10.
A year later the question has flipped. The 9 September 2026 keynote installed the Apple Watch Series 12 at the same entry price, with a new chip and redesigned heart sensors. The old model’s page has vanished from Apple’s French site. What remains is retailer stock, and that is where everything gets decided.
Nobody on our team has worn this watch. What follows cross-references the specifications published by Apple, measurements from reviewers (Fnac Lab, Clubic, TechRadar, Wired) and a year of price tracking. The target: an iPhone owner who wants a complete watch for Sunday sport, sleep and notifications, without paying for novelty.
Verdict in brief: where the Apple Watch Series 11 stands in late 2026
Verdict in 30 seconds
Only one generation behind, and almost nothing changed on the outside: the display, case and advertised battery life are those of the Series 12. It is only worth a look when clearly cheaper, because closely spaced heart tracking and the Readiness score are denied to it.

Two lines in this table deserve a pause. The 2,000 nits first, because Apple has not done better since in this format. Then the S10 chip: it already powered the Series 10 in 2024, and it is the only component that gives away the age of the Apple Watch Series 11.
Apple Watch Series 11 design: the case the Series 12 copied
9.7 mm thick. That is the measurement that matters on a watch you keep on at night, and it has not budged since the Series 10. The 42 mm aluminium model weighs 30.3 g without a band, the 46 mm one 37.8 g. No ceramic here: it came back with the following generation, at over €1,000. Nobody will shed a tear.
Nothing marks the Apple Watch Series 11 out as an old model, and that is its best argument. Set beside the Series 12, you have to flip both cases over and compare the sensor layout to tell them apart. Your bands move from one to the other.
Ion-X glass that is twice as hard to scratch
The aluminium versions received ceramic-coated Ion-X glass, which Apple says resists scratches twice as well as the Series 10’s. Titanium keeps its sapphire. The Series 12 goes further with a Ceramic Shield 2 billed as 60% tougher again. If your wrist spends time near motorbike handlebars or warehouse shelving, the gap matters. A five-euro screen protector takes care of a good part of the problem.
Swimming yes, diving no
Water resistance is given as 50 metres, which covers the pool, the sea and the shower. IP6X certification shuts the door on dust: a plus during harmattan and on laterite tracks. Scuba diving is still a job for the Ultra.
Display: the panel has not aged a day, and with good reason
The Apple Watch Series 11 has nothing to envy the newcomer. The Series 12 reuses its always-on LTPO3 OLED panel: 374 × 446 pixels on the small model, 416 × 496 on the large one, 326 pixels per inch in both cases. Brightness climbs to 2,000 nits in direct sunlight and falls to 1 nit in the dark, so it does not dazzle you at three in the morning.
Fnac Lab notes that some rivals now advertise 3,000 nits, while judging Apple’s screen perfectly readable in all circumstances. Under the midday sun in Yaoundé, the figure is more than enough.
Performance: sensors, GPS, sports and health tracking under the magnifying glass
This is the chapter where the Apple Watch Series 11 shows its age, without that being visible in use.
A 2024 S10 chip that still holds its own
A 64-bit dual-core processor, a four-core Neural Engine, 64 GB of storage: the sheet is the Series 10’s. TechRadar pointed it out in its review, without noting any speed gain from one generation to the next. No published review describes a slowdown either.
The Series 12 debuts an S11 chip that Consomac credits with 4 GB of RAM, useful mainly for artificial intelligence tasks run on the watch itself. To display a notification or pay for a taxi contactless, you will see no difference.
Single-frequency GPS, clean tracks
The receiver in the Apple Watch Series 11 picks up the GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS and BeiDou constellations, but on the L1 band alone. Dual frequency remains the Ultra’s privilege. A handicap between buildings, in theory. In practice, Fnac Lab obtained tracks as faithful as those of rival dual-band watches, sometimes better. The same lab calls the optical heart sensor a “reference”.
5G on the wrist, mostly on paper
The Cellular versions introduced 5G in its lightweight RedCap variant. In France, only Orange was ready at launch, and Clubic described a laborious activation. It is hard to see what a watch gains from it for taking a call.
Sport and health: what the watch measures, and what Apple withholds from it
The toolkit is broad: electrocardiogram, blood oxygen, wrist temperature, sleep apnoea detection, cycle tracking, fall detection. Two new features had justified the Apple Watch Series 11 in 2025.
Hypertension: an alert, never a diagnosis
The Apple Watch Series 11 displays no blood pressure figure. It analyses optical sensor data for thirty days and warns you if it spots a lasting trend towards hypertension. Apple sets conditions: be at least 22, not be pregnant, not have already received this diagnosis. The company states in black and white that the feature can neither diagnose nor treat, and that some people with hypertension will never receive an alert. After a notification, head for a cuff monitor and then the doctor.
The feature is announced in more than 150 countries and regions, European Union included. An irony of timing: according to WatchGeneration and Consomac, the reworked sensors of the Series 12 force Apple to go back before the health authorities of some thirty countries, where the alerts will arrive later. The old model, approved long ago, escapes that setback.
Sleep scored out of 100 and an English-speaking voice coach
The sleep score hands out a mark out of 100 each morning. Simple, readable, and finally level with what Garmin had been offering for years.
On the sports side, more than thirty workout types are handled, from running to swimming. Workout Buddy, the voice coach powered by Apple Intelligence, comments on your sessions. One small drawback: according to Apple Support, it only speaks English and Spanish.
Where the Series 12 pulls ahead
The new generation takes the pulse every five seconds in the background. The Verge found it within five beats of a chest strap. Those readings feed Readiness, a daily score from 0 to 10 that tells you whether your body is ready to take a session.
None of that will come to the 2025 generation, and it is infuriating: it already measures sleep, training load and overnight vitals. If you are preparing a half marathon with a structured plan, that absence is enough to tip the choice towards the recent model, or towards a Garmin Fenix 9 Pro if battery endurance comes before notifications.
Good to know: none of these features turns the watch into a medical diagnostic device. Their availability depends on the country set on the iPhone: check Apple’s list for yours before buying.
Apple Watch Series 11 battery life: 24 hours promised, more in the labs
Apple’s claim for the Apple Watch Series 11 is 24 hours in everyday use, stretching to 38 once Low Power Mode is on. At launch, the leap from the Series 10’s 18 hours had raised eyebrows. Consomac and iPhoneSoft took the trick apart: the test protocol now includes six hours of sleep tracking, which draw little power, added to the typical day. The battery itself only grew by 9% on the 42 mm and 11% on the 46 mm, according to TechRadar.
And yet the independent measurements are flattering. Fnac Lab went past 40 hours in its protocol. Clubic lasted nearly 36 hours with a workout on 4G. Wired, quoted by Mac4Ever, hovers around 30 hours. The trend is clear: a full day plus the night after is no longer an issue.
On this ground the replacement brings nothing. Same 24-hour promise.
Fast charging, though not the fastest
Allow about 30 minutes to reach 80%. A quarter of an hour on the dock returns eight hours of use, where the Series 12 recovers twelve. Fnac Lab timed a full charge at between 56 and 77 minutes. The USB-C magnetic cable is in the box; the power adapter is not. During a power cut, a pocket power bank does the job.
Software: watchOS 27 installs, some of the new features stay at the door
Shipped with watchOS 26, the Apple Watch Series 11 received watchOS 27 on 14 September 2026. Apple used this release to drop the Series 6, 7 and 8, which gives an idea of software lifespan: four to five years. At that pace, a 2025 model should be supported until the end of the decade, with no official commitment.
The sorting can be read on Apple’s support page:
- Received: Workout Buddy with no iPhone nearby, cycle tracking extended to perimenopause, the extended workout mode, the unified Find My app and two watch faces.
- Received with conditions: the new Siri, in beta, provided it is paired with an iPhone 15 Pro or an iPhone 16 and later.
- Refused: Readiness, the real-time heart-rate graph, daytime readings in Vitals, the Steps complication, Shazam in the Smart Stack and sound recognition.
On Siri, stay careful. Apple’s documentation says it is limited to English at first and unavailable in the European Union, while American outlets were talking about French for October. Do not buy any watch, old or new, for an AI feature you have not seen running in your own language.
Compatibility: the Apple Watch Series 11 and Android are not on speaking terms
No iPhone, no watch. The Apple Watch Series 11 demands an iPhone 11 or later, and iOS 27 to enjoy watchOS 27. No Android app exists, and an iPad will not do. With a Samsung phone, our face-off against the Galaxy Watch 8 lays the problem out plainly.
Cellular version: three carriers in France
The GPS + Cellular variant carries an eSIM that clones your number. In France, Apple lists Orange, SFR and Free. Bouygues Telecom is missing. The add-on, around €5 a month at RED by SFR according to Selectra, makes sense if you run without a phone. For everyone else the GPS model is enough, and it cost €120 less at launch.
Apple Watch Series 11 or Series 12: a hundred euros apart, which one to take?
It all depends on the price tag, and that changes from one week to the next. Here is our grid for the 42 mm aluminium GPS model.
- Up to €350 (about 230,000 FCFA): buy the older one, the saving pays for a second band and a charger.
- Between €350 and €400: only for those left cold by advanced training tracking.
- Beyond €400: take the Series 12 at €449.
In 46 mm, the sums tilt further towards the Apple Watch Series 11. Apple raised the large size of the new generation to €499 (about 327,000 FCFA), twenty euros more than in 2025.
And if you already wear an Apple Watch Series 11? Keep it. TechRadar, after a week with the newcomer, judges the gain incidental for owners of the 2025 model. Switching makes sense from a Series 8 or older, now deprived of updates.
Apple Watch Series 11 price and availability in France and in Africa
A reminder of the official 2025 prices: €449 in 42 mm GPS, €479 in 46 mm GPS, €569 (about 373,000 FCFA) and €599 (about 393,000 FCFA) for the Cellular versions in aluminium. Apple no longer sells the Apple Watch Series 11 directly. Everything happens at Amazon, Fnac, Darty, Cdiscount and the carriers.
Prices recorded since January
The curve comes down in fits and starts. In January 2026 Amazon had the 42 mm at €369 and the 46 mm at €399. In June, WatchGeneration flagged the small model at €329 (about 216,000 FCFA) at JoyBuy, the lowest known price to date. In July, Consomac recorded €349 and €379 at Amazon and Cdiscount, on nearly every colour. Free took €50 off the Cellular versions in August.
The trap is the in-between. In early October several chains were still listing some colours at €449, the exact price of the Series 12. Be patient: Black Friday has every chance of pulling price tags back to their summer lows, with no guarantee on the remaining sizes and colours.

In Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal
Apple has no store of its own in West and Central Africa. The Apple Watch Series 11 arrives there through authorised resellers in the big cities and, more often, in suitcases or via importers, with a margin that quickly wipes out the discount obtained in Europe. We found no reliable local price in FCFA: insist on an invoice and check the serial number before paying. On the network side, take the GPS version. Across the whole continent Apple lists only MTN and Vodacom, in South Africa, for the watch plan: the eSIM of a Cellular model will stay silent in Douala, Abidjan or Dakar. The one-year warranty is easier to claim in the country of purchase.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Display and case identical to those of the 2026 model
- Between 30 and 40 hours measured by several reviewers
- Hypertension alerts already cleared in more than 150 countries
- Up to €120 saved during promotions
Cons
- Neither Readiness nor closely spaced heart readings, even after updating
- Withdrawn from Apple’s catalogue, stock and colours shrinking
- Voice coach and new Siri absent in French for now
- Unusable without an iPhone, cellular plan nowhere to be found in West and Central Africa
Alternatives to the Apple Watch Series 11
Three possible directions if the Apple Watch Series 11 does not convince you. The Series 12 for heart tracking and software longevity, at full price. The Apple Watch Ultra 4 for those whom daily charging drives up the wall, at the cost of a bulky case and a doubled bill. And Garmin’s Fenix 9 Pro, for Android phones and outings lasting several days.
Conclusion: should you buy the Apple Watch Series 11 in late 2026?
Yes, provided you look at the price tag before the spec sheet. The Apple Watch Series 11 had the bad luck to be replaced by something that is a carbon copy on the outside, and that is good luck for the buyer: what you see, what you touch and what you charge every day has not changed.
What has changed sits under the case and concerns regular athletes first. If the phrase “heart rate variability” means nothing to you, you are not losing much. If you plan your sessions, take the new one.
A last tip, valid from Lyon to Libreville: compare two or three retailers and accept a less sought-after colour, the difference sometimes reaches €100 for the same watch. With an iPhone 17 Pro in your pocket, the pair stays up to date for several years.
Good to know: our buying threshold is €350 for the 42 mm and €380 for the 46 mm. Above €400, the Series 12 is the better investment.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Apple Watch Series 11 price in late 2026?
It launched at €449 in 42 mm and €479 in 46 mm, but Apple has stopped selling it since the Series 12 came out. At retailers, 2026 prices range from a low of €329 in June to €449 on some colours in early October. Everyday promotions sit around €349 for the small model and €379 for the large one.
Is the Apple Watch Series 11 compatible with watchOS 27?
Yes, the Apple Watch Series 11 gets watchOS 27. The update has been offered since 14 September 2026 to the Series 9 and later, the Ultra 2 and later and the SE 3, with an iPhone 11 or newer. The Readiness score, the real-time heart-rate graph and sound recognition stay reserved for the Series 12 and Ultra 4.
Can the Apple Watch Series 11 take a blood pressure reading?
No, it shows no blood pressure value at all. It analyses its optical sensor data over thirty-day periods and sends a notification if it detects a trend towards hypertension. Apple restricts the feature to adults aged 22 and over who are not pregnant and have no prior diagnosis, and specifies that it does not replace a medical examination. After an alert, see a doctor.
Does the cellular Apple Watch Series 11 work in Cameroon or Côte d’Ivoire?
Not for the moment. The watch plan relies on an eSIM the carrier has to support, and in Africa Apple lists only MTN and Vodacom in South Africa. A GPS + Cellular model bought in France will therefore work like an ordinary GPS model, linked to your iPhone over Bluetooth or to Wi-Fi. You may as well choose the GPS version.
