iOS 26.6 and macOS Tahoe 26.6: The Security Update to Install Without Delay

On July 27, 2026, Apple released iOS 26.6 and macOS Tahoe 26.6, two updates that add no big visible feature but fix a record number of security flaws: more than 143 vulnerabilities for macOS Tahoe alone — the highest total for a point release of this version. With several of these flaws being especially serious, it’s strongly recommended to install the update quickly.

What the Update Fixes

Among the patches are critical flaws deep in the system, including use-after-free vulnerabilities in the kernel, along with nine WebKit flaws, the engine that powers Safari. These are particularly concerning because they can be triggered simply by visiting a booby-trapped web page: no download or installation is needed for an attacker to try to exploit them.

Beyond security, the update also brings bug fixes for HealthKit, for HDR screenshots, and improvements affecting Wi-Fi, Siri and the iPhone’s image processing. Earlier in July, Apple had already fixed a flaw in Hide My Email that could expose a user’s real address.

Why It Matters

WebKit flaws have historically been among the most exploited on iPhone and Mac, because the web is the main vector for remote attacks.
