The only smartphone that dares to come close to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in its range is the OPPO Find N2. But this trend may change with the imminent arrival of the Vivo X Fold 2 whose specifications are promising. This article will let us know if the Vivo X Fold 2 will be ahead of the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Design and screen of the Vivo X Fold 2 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4

When folded, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 features a glass front (Gorilla Glass Victus+). When the smartphone is unfolded, it shows a plastic front, a glass back (Gorilla Glass Victus+) and an aluminum frame.
So far, no details are available about the design material of the Vivo X Fold 2. But we already know that unfolded, the smartphone measures 161.3 x 143.4 x 6 mm and folded it measures 161.3 x 73.4 x 12.9 mm. It is therefore larger and less thick than the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Indeed, unfolded, the latter is 155.1 x 130.1 x 6.3 mm while folded it is 155.1 x 67.1 x 14.2-15.8 mm.

We also notice that Samsung’s smartphone is lighter with a weight of 233 g against 279 g for the smartphone of Vivo. The Z Fold 4 offers a more pleasant and comfortable grip than the X Fold 2.
The foldable displays of the Vivo X Fold 2 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 are AMOLED. But the former uses LTPO4 technology. As a result, the X Fold 2 screen adjusts its refresh rate faster depending on the content it displays for better energy consumption than the Galaxy Z Fold 4 screen. This refresh rate peaks at 120 Hz for both devices.


Both interior displays are super bright HDR10+. But in terms of readability, the Z Fold 4’s is no better with its 1200 nits of maximum brightness compared to the 1800 nits of the X Fold 2’s interior screen. The latter, of 8.03 inches displaying in 1916 x 2160 pixels, has a higher resolution than the inner screen of the Z Fold 4 which displays in 1812 x 2176 pixels with a diagonal of 7.6 inches.

As for the cover screens of both smartphones, they are all AMOLED with the same refresh rate of 120 Hz. But the one on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is a Dynamic AMOLED 2X. Unlike the simple AMOLED type where the touch function is as a separate layer on top of the screen, the Dynamic AMOLED 2X is a Super AMOLED (integrates the touchscreen directly into the screen) optimized.

The cover screen of the 6.53-inch Vivo X Fold 2, displaying 1080 x 2520 pixels, has a higher resolution. Indeed, the cover screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a diagonal of 6.2 inches and a resolution of 904 x 2316 pixels.

Who of the Vivo X Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 has the best Camera

The Vivo X Fold 2 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 carry triple sensor cameras. Both smartphones have main sensors of 50 MP each, with optical stabilizer (OIS). However, Vivo’s phone uses a telephoto lens and an ultra-wide one of 12 MP each. Samsung’s phone on the other hand doesn’t do much better on its telephoto and ultra-wide, 10 MP and 12 MP.


The Vivo X Fold 2 offers for the selfie a sensor of greater resolution. Indeed, whether the indoor selfie sensor or coverage they are 32 MP, while the Z Fold 4 has an indoor selfie sensor of 4 MP and coverage of 10 MP.

Technical specifications of the Vivo X Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Fold 4

The Vivo X Fold 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which is more powerful and efficient than its predecessor the 8+ Gen 1 that powers the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Both phones accompany their chipsets with 12GB of RAM. In addition to all this, there are internal storages of 256 or 512 GB, with a 1 TB version for the Samsung phone.

The Z Fold 4 is equipped with an Adreno 730 graphics card, while the X Fold 2 is equipped with an Adreno 740 for better graphics performance. The latter runs on Android 13 while the Samsung smartphone is managed by Android 12L, upgradeable to Android 13.

Vivo X Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 battery life


The Vivo X Fold 2 is powered by a 4800 mAh Li-Po battery that is more powerful than the 4400 mAh Li-Po battery in the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Thanks to the better power management of its processor, Vivo’s smartphone should offer better battery life than the Samsung.

A 120W wired charging pad is compatible with the X Fold 2. That’s far faster than the 25W wired charging of the Z Fold 4. According to Vivo, It allows to refuel in 26 min while Samsung announces 50% recharge in 30 min. wireless charges of 50 W and wireless reverse 10 W are available for the Vivo. Similarly, for the Galaxy, a 15 W wireless charge and a 4.5 W wireless reverse charge are also available.

Price and market presence of the Vivo X Fold 2 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is available since August 25, 2022 at a price of €1,298.00. It is cheaper than the Vivo X Fold 2. The latter was announced on April 20, 2023 and the manufacturer plans to market it at about 1330 euros. It is not yet known whether it will be available in Europe.

The best between the Vivo X Fold 2 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4

It is undeniable that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is still the one with the most notoriety in the foldable range. But the only point on which it will surpass the Vivo X Fold 2 is on grip, because the latter offers better on display, photo production, performance and autonomy. This is perhaps why it is more expensive.
