With the Reno 6 5G, Oppo has put a real photo studio in our hands for less than £500, the question is whether the Reno 7 which could arrive soon will be able to take over.
The Reno series of phones will leave a mark on you with their distinctive design and above all their photographic capabilities. This is definitely a series made for lovers of photography and elegance.
If you wish to buy an Oppo Reno, this guide is here to help you decide between the Reno 6 and 7.

Oppo Reno 7 vs Reno 6: Price and Availability
At the time of writing, the Reno 7 is not yet on the market, and it’s not known if its release is imminent despite the fact that all of its specs and even its price have been leaked on the web.
The Reno 7 will be priced at CNY 2,999 or around €415 for a configuration of 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Of course it will be released in China first. There will also be a high-end configuration with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, but we don’t know its price yet.
The Reno 6 has been on the market for only four months, on June 11th to be exact, at a price of €499 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
Oppo has made a habit of releasing two Reno’s a year. We saw this with the Reno 3 and 4 released in 2020. We think it’s also the case with the Reno 5 and 6 released this year. So by that logic Reno 7 should not be released in 2021.
If you’re in a hurry to get an Oppo Reno, you’d better buy the Reno 6 because apparently the Reno 7 won’t be released until 2022. But nothing is certain.
Oppo Reno 7 vs Reno 6: Design / Conception
As mentioned above, the Reno 6 is a really beautiful phone. It has a rather unique design, for a £500 phone. It’s a 156.8 x 72.1 x 7.6 mm phone with a mass of 182g. It looks like a high-end phone.
It has an aluminium frame and a soft shell that doesn’t retain much dirt. And to confirm its premium nature, the Reno 6 has its fingerprint sensor under its screen. This is rare on a phone at this price.
What makes this phone a bit of a drag, however, is the lack of a headphone jack.
Equipped with NFC functionality, the Reno 7 should be visually similar to the Reno 6. It will have a flat aluminium frame with a 2D diamond glass shell and Gorilla Glass to protect its screen.
The Reno 6 is sold in two colours: Arctic Blue and Star Black.
We’ll have to wait until the Reno 7 is released to see how beautiful it is, but it will be very similar in design to the Reno 6.
Oppo Reno 7 vs Reno 6: Which has the better screen
Protected by Gorilla Glass 5, the Reno 6’s screen is a 6.43 OLED. The Reno 7 comes with a 6.5-inch AMOLED display.
Both screens have Full HD+ definition with a 90Hz refresh rate. For both phones this is pretty good, although their brightness could have been better. It is only 750 nits.
Oppo Reno 7 vs Reno 6: which is the most efficient
The Reno 6 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G and the Reno 7 by the MediaTek Dimensity 920. The Reno 7 is therefore more powerful. Both phones offer up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage without the possibility of inserting a memory card.
With such specifications, you can easily go on social networks, play games that are not too resource-intensive, make video calls and stream without problems. But whether it’s the Reno 7 or 6, you won’t buy them for their computing power.
Oppo Reno 7 vs Reno 6: Which one has better cameras
Image capture is the strong point of Reno phones.
The Oppo Reno 7 has a triple rear camera. It has a 50MP Sony IMX766 main sensor; assisted by an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide camera with auto focus and another 2MP black and white.
Strangely, the Reno 6 seems to have more powerful cameras. It also has a triple camera including a 64MP main camera, an 8MP wide angle camera and a 2MP macro sensor.
Both phones offer a 32MP Sony IMX615 sensor for your selfies.
Far from matching the Reno 6 in terms of cameras, the Reno 7 actually seems to dominate in this area. This further confirms the fact that you don’t have to wait for its release to buy a new phone.
Oppo Reno 7 vs Reno 6: Which phone has the best battery
The Reno 7’s 4500mAh battery will certainly beat the Reno 6’s 4300mAh capacity. It’s also true that the two phones could end up being equal because the Reno 7 has a more powerful processor which will therefore consume more power.
To charge both phones, you can rely on their 65W fast charge.
Finally, the Reno 6 can stream videos from Netflix for over 15 hours at a time. So you won’t have to worry about battery life with these phones.
Finally, it is clear that the Reno 7 and Reno 6 are not very different. Apart from a slightly better processor and battery, the Reno 7 doesn’t have much more to offer at the moment.
