The OnePlus 12 revolutionises the gaming experience with a thoughtful new design

The OnePlus 12 is set to redefine smartphone design by incorporating one notable change: moving the alert slider to the left side of the phone. This strategic decision opens the door to an enhanced gaming experience thanks to a new dedicated antenna system. Having conducted extensive internal testing, OnePlus has identified the optimal location for the gaming antennae between the user’s index finger in landscape orientation. Currently located in this crucial space, the Alert Slider on the OnePlus 11 is being redesigned to make way for new technological innovations. This article explores the details of this decision and the benefits it brings to users.

Optimising for gaming: Strategically moving the Alert Slider

The relocation of the Alert Slider on the OnePlus 12 offers a complete solution in terms of an antenna signal dedicated to gaming. OnePlus not only changes the position of this slider, but also offers an industry-first ultra-compact full-band antenna technology. These innovations minimise the amount of space allocated to the Alert Slider while ensuring superior antenna signal strength. Internal tests conducted by OnePlus revealed very promising results: an impressive 3 dB improvement in the signal strength of the gaming antenna. What’s more, a significant 15% reduction in game latency was also observed, delivering a smoother, more responsive gaming experience for users.

An elegant and harmonious rear design

The rear design of the OnePlus 12 continues the elegant aesthetic of the OnePlus 11, featuring a distinctive round camera module that houses multiple lenses and highlights the iconic partnership with Hasselblad. The iconic ‘H’ logo symbolising this collaboration is featured prominently, while the LED flash is fluidly positioned, adding a harmonious finishing touch to the overall look. Colour options for the OnePlus 12 include classic black, pristine white and vibrant green, giving users a variety of choices to match their style and preferences.

OnePlus 12 Claimed Specifications

Impressive screen for an Immersive Visual Experience

The screen on the OnePlus 12 is expected to be a gem, with a large 6.82-inch BOE X1 OLED display. Offering 2K resolution, a fast 120Hz refresh rate and an incredible maximum brightness of 3,000 nits, this screen promises an immersive and dazzling visual experience.

Power and performance under the bonnet

Running on Android 14 based on ColorOS 14 for the global variant, the OnePlus 12 is also expected to offer a version with Android 14 based on OxygenOS 14. Under the bonnet, the beast will be powered by the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. These specs make the OnePlus 12 a performance monster ready to take on any challenge.

Photographic configuration

Photography will be another major feat for the OnePlus 12. The rear camera setup is expected to include a 50-megapixel LYT-808 main camera with OIS, a 48-megapixel IMX581 ultra-wide-angle lens and a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. When it comes to selfies, the OnePlus 12 is expected to pack an impressive 32-megapixel front-facing camera.

Robust battery life and fast charging

Battery life won’t be an issue with the OnePlus 12’s robust 5,400mAh battery. What’s more, the 100W wired fast charging and efficient 50W wireless charging support ensure fast charging so you’ll always stay connected.
