Tecno unveils its rollable smartphone concept: the Phantom Ultimate

Over the years, Tecno has gradually established itself as a leader in technological innovation. The company presented its latest R&D masterpiece: the Phantom Ultimate rollable smartphone concept. This revolutionary device can extend sideways, enlarging the screen from 6.55 inches to 7.11 inches in just 1.2 to 1.3 seconds. This second concept device from Tecno is very similar to the Vision V, with the exception of its folding function.

The Phantom Ultimate is equipped with a unique motor-drive system that allows the device to be enlarged simply by pressing a button on the top right-hand side of the phone. When rolled up, the device transforms into a basic 6.55-inch smartphone, with an additional screen at the rear, acting as a permanent display.

Tecno Phantom Ultimate specifications

Moving on to the Phantom Ultimate’s specifications, unrolled, it sports a 7.11-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2,296 x 1,596 pixels and a pixel density of 388 PPI. It offers 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, although such figures are difficult to verify on a concept.

The Phantom Ultimate measures 9.93 mm thick at its base, and Tecno guarantees that it can be easily held in one hand. The device features protective glass for the roll-up area and a textured back for improved grip.

Phantom Ultimate availability

Unfortunately, at this stage, the Phantom Ultimate is still only a concept, and there is no indication as to its availability on the market. Clearly, certain technological limitations must be overcome before rollable smartphones become a reality, and it’s hard to predict how long this will take.

However, Tecno continues to push the boundaries of innovation with such advanced concepts. We can therefore expect the brand to continue its research into making the Phantom Ultimate and similar technologies available to the general public in the near future.

Stay tuned for Tecno’s announcements to be among the first to discover the latest advances in rollable smartphones and other exciting innovations from the brand.
