Tecno is ahead of many tech giants (OnePlus, Google Apple…) in the folding race and announces its very first foldable phone – the Tecno Phantom V Fold.
From the outset, we see a large foldable phone that weighs 299 g, it is almost the biggest. It can justify this weight with at least three good reasons:
Like the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and its predecessors, it does not bring a third screen, which would actually be too much. On the other hand, it adopts a circular camera island, somewhat similar to that of the Honor Magic 4 Pro (the photo modules are in the center). The rear photo block consists of three sensors and a LED flash module.
Once closed, you’ll use the Tecno Phantom V Fold’s cover screen, which is a regularly wide 6.42-inch LTPO AMOLED with a resolution of 1080×2550px. It caps at 120Hz. Open the Phantom V Fold and you’re greeted by a larger 7.85-inch 2000×2296 px display, this one also an LTPO panel refreshing up to 120Hz. It’s a bit larger than the screen on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, but those on the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, Honor’s Magic Vs or Vivo’s X Fold+ are even larger.
For processing power Under its displays, Tecno has opted for the Dimensity 9000+ SoC . This is a 4nm wafer-thin chipset found in the Oppo Find N2 Flip and is MediaTek’s answer to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor found in the Galaxy Z Fold 4.
Moving on to the optics, there are three cameras on the back of the Tecno Phantom V Fold – a 50MP main camera, a 50MP 2x zoom camera and a 13MP ultra-wide camera. The selfie cameras are 32MP on the cover screen and 16MP on the inner screen.
The Tecno Phantom V Fold contains a large 5,000 mAh battery with 45W of wired charging support (no wireless option). The company claims that the Phantom V Fold can charge to 40 percent in just 15 minutes and reaches full charge in 55 minutes.
The Tecno Phantom V Fold is coming in Q2 and will be launched in India first, starting at INR 89,999 ($1,099) for the 12/256GB model and INR 99,999 ($1,222) for the 12/512GB model. Tecno will have a special offer for early birds, starting at INR 79,999 ($979).
