If the rumors are true, Nothing‘s next big launch is imminent with the long-awaited Nothing Phone (2a). The latest official hints suggest that the unveiling is imminent, but mystery still hangs over the device and its design. Fortunately, a recent leak offers us a glimpse of the device as part of a production validation test, revealing some intriguing details.
What catches the eye is the entirely new design, breaking with the conventions of previous Nothing models, which sported a three-glyph style.
Leaked images of a PVT (Production Validation Test) unit show us a glimpse of the device in its early stages of production. These units, used to validate manufacturing processes and guarantee compliance with quality standards, are usually concealed in a massive outer casing to maintain design secrecy.
Despite this, we can clearly make out a horizontal camera layout at the rear, marking a significant departure from the brand’s previous models. Information from this source suggests that the Nothing Phone (2a) will feature a 6.7-inch OLED display with an impressive refresh rate of 120 Hz. The Dimensity 7200 chipset will be paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, although other memory configurations may also be available.
Device features apparently include two 50 MP rear cameras, similar to the Nothing Phone 2, as well as a 16 MP selfie camera. The operating system is expected to be Nothing OS 2.5, with Android 14 underlying. However, it’s advisable to take some of this information with a grain of salt, as details such as the battery capacity quoted at 1,000 mAh appear to be wrong.
Rumors also suggest that the big unveiling of the Nothing Phone (2a) could take place at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February 2024, with a suggested retail price around $400. Stay tuned for official updates as anticipation soars to discover what Nothing has in store for tech enthusiasts.
