Huawei has just unveiled its latest series of smartphones, the nova 12, at an exclusive event in China. The range comprises four exciting models: the nova 12, the nova 12 Lite, the nova 12 Pro and the crown jewel, the nova 12 Ultra. In this article, we’ll focus on the Pro and Ultra models, diving into their outstanding features and revealing everything you need to know about these two technological gems.
The Huawei nova 12 Ultra is distinguished by its 6.76-inch OLED LTPO display, offering an exceptional visual experience with an adjustable screen refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. Featuring a resolution of 2,776 x 1,224 pixels and supporting 1B colors with a wide P3 color gamut, this screen is protected by robust Kunlun Glass. The pill-shaped notch in the center houses two powerful cameras, including an ultra-wide 60 MP camera with FOV 100˚ and autofocus, as well as an 8 MP unit with 2x optical zoom for stunning portraits.
On the rear, the nova 12 Ultra sports an elegant design with a leatherette cover and 3D embossing of the Huawei and Nova brands. The elliptical camera island features an LED flash, laser focus sensor, 50 MP main camera with variable F/1.4~4.0 aperture and RYYB color filter array, as well as an 8 MP ultra-wide camera with 112˚ FOV. Under the hood, the smartphone runs on HarmonyOS 4, with up to 1 TB of integrated storage, powered by the powerful Kirin 9000S.
The nova 12 Ultra also offers innovative features such as satellite calling and messaging supported by the two-way Beidou system, a 4,600 mAh battery compatible with fast charging up to 100 W via a USB-C port, an integrated digital fingerprint scanner, dual-band GPS, NFC and stereo speakers for an immersive audio experience.
The nova 12 Pro shares many features with the Ultra, but with a few subtle differences. Featuring the same impressive screen, the Pro offers an additional color option, while being slightly lighter and without a leatherette back. With storage options of 256GB and 512GB, the nova 12 Pro offers an attractive alternative at a competitive price.
The Huawei nova 12 Ultra is available in two generous storage options: 512 GB and 1 TB, priced at CNY 4,699 and CNY 5,499 respectively. On the other hand, the nova 12 Pro is offered with storage capacities of 256 GB and 512 GB, priced at CNY 3,999 and CNY 4,399 respectively. Both models are currently on pre-order in China via VMall, with the Pro going on sale from January 5, 2024, followed by the Ultra on January 12, 2024.
