Galaxy A55: A new choice of GPU for enhanced performance

The Samsung Galaxy A55 continues to make news, this time thanks to its appearance on benchmark site Geekbench. This latest appearance confirms Samsung’s interesting choice of GPU, which promises improved performance compared to previous generations of the A5x range.

Details of the Exynos 1480 and Xclipse 530 GPU:

The A55 chipset, known as the Exynos 1480, is distinguished by its AMD RDNA2-based Xclipse 530 GPU. This decision is a departure from the Mali GPUs used in previous models, prompting great curiosity about the graphics performance of this new generation. It’s even possible that the Galaxy A55 could offer raytracing technology in games, opening up new perspectives for users.

Performance improvements:

Although the processor improvements over the Exynos 1380 are not surprising, they are still appreciable. The Galaxy A55 achieved a single-core score of 1127 and a multi-core score of 2090 on Geekbench, compared with around 1108 and 2797 respectively for the Galaxy A54. Despite this, it’s important to stress that the A55 doesn’t mark a huge leap forward in terms of processor performance, but it’s still a positive development.

Expected specifications:

According to persistent rumors, the Galaxy A55 should also offer other attractive features. It will feature a 6.5-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 50-megapixel main camera for quality shots, and 25-Watt wired charging support. It’s also important to note that the charger will not be included in the box, given the current industry trend.
