WhatsApp recently rolled out its latest revolutionary feature, WhatsApp Secret Code, offering a new layer of security and privacy to its users around the world. The feature, designed to complement the existing chat lock feature, promises a more secure experience for those looking to protect their sensitive chats.
The WhatsApp Secret Code feature adds to WhatsApp’s security arsenal, aimed at ensuring unrivalled privacy for users. Initially introduced in tandem with the WhatsApp Chat Lock feature in May 2023, Secret Code sets itself apart by offering an extra layer of protection.
When you activate WhatsApp Secret Code, the locked chat is placed in a separate folder outside of the main view. In addition, all notifications related to that chat are also hidden. This subtle but effective approach adds a level of discretion and privacy to your exchanges.
According to the official WhatsApp blog, the Secret Code feature is now available to all users. Although the roll-out has only just begun, WhatsApp says the feature will be available globally over the coming months, allowing everyone to take advantage of this significant security enhancement.
While the previously introduced chat lock feature offered a degree of privacy, Secret Code goes one step further. It allows users to hide the ‘Locked Chats’ folder from the main chat list, ensuring that even curious eyes won’t know about your confidential exchanges.
Secret Code provides a password that is separate from your device’s unlock password or pattern. This adds an extra layer of security, ensuring that only authorized users can access these private chats.
Users must set a unique secret code for each locked chat. This code must be memorized, as it will be required to display the locked chat. Inserting the secret code into the search bar will then reveal the protected chat.
