Shortly after the release of WatchOS 8, some users of Apple’s smartwatches on started reporting a blocking issue with the apple logo flashing while the device is unmounting. That said, this is a minor problem, it can usually be solved without too much trouble.

Fixing an Apple Watch that is stuck on the logo

The actual cause of the flashing Apple logo on the Apple Watch when it boots up can be difficult to identify. That said, if your Apple Watch is displaying a flashing Apple logo preventing the watch from booting up, don’t panic! We have a few fixes that can help you remedy this.

Forcing the Apple Watch to reboot

A forced reboot is often used to repair a device when it is unresponsive, frozen, or stuck in a boot loop… Here, we will use it to repair the flashing Apple logo at startup. Here’s how to force a reboot of your Apple Watch:

  • Simultaneously press and hold the Digital Crown and the side button on your Apple Watch.
  • Release your grip on both buttons when you see the Apple logo displayed on your screen.
  • Now check to see if it starts up normally. If it does not, move on to the next corrective measures.
  • Check for updates
  • The Cupertino firm frequently releases updates for most of its products, these updates tend to fix security issues and bugs, and solve some of the problems users have to complain about in a previous version.

You can update your Apple Watch directly from the watch’s settings or do it through the Watch app on your iPhone. Let’s see the process for the former:

  • Launch the Settings app on your watch.
  • Go to General and tap on Software Update.
  • If an update is found, tap Download and Install.
  • After downloading, select Install.
  • Tap Continue.

If you are updating via your iPhone, here are the steps to follow:

  • Open the Watch application on your iPhone device.
  • Select the My Watch tab.
  • Tap General and then tap Software Update.
  • Follow the on-screen guide to complete the update.

Charging the Apple Watch

Some users have revealed that after fully charging their Apple Watch, the flashing logo stopped and their watch was able to boot up normally. You may want to do the same thing. Fully charge your watch with its magnetic charging cable or the magnetic charging dock and see if that solves your problem.

Reattach your Apple Watch

If after trying the above steps and none of them worked, re-pairing the watch might. Use the following steps to do so:

  • From the paired device, open the Watch app.
  • Go to the My Watch tab.
  • Select All Watches at the top left and click the information icon next to your Apple Watch.
  • Select Unlink Apple Watch.
  • Now activate Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on your iPhone and turn on your Apple Watch.
  • Press Continue when the message Use your iPhone to set up this Apple Watch appears on your screen.
  • Move your Apple Watch closer to the viewfinder and wait for the pairing confirmation message.
  • Now check to see if the flashing Apple logo on your Apple Watch has been corrected.
