How to fix progress save failure in Call of Duty.

When it comes to gaming, saving progress is an undeniably valuable feature for everyone. That’s why it’s easy to feel frustrated when you can’t save your progress, especially in Call od Duty. Fortunately, we have a few solutions for you to explore.

How to fix Call of Duty not saving progress

If you’re one of the people experiencing this progress saving problem, don’t worry! Let’s explore potential fixes to resolve this issue.

Check if your backup really is lost

The first thing to do in this kind of situation is always to check whether your progress record has really disappeared. To do this

  • Go to the main menu,
  • Select Zombies, and if you encounter an error, simply ignore it and press Return.
  • Once the film is finished, return to the campaign and select Resume.
  • If your progress is indeed lost, move on to the next solution.

Check if you have enough storage space available

To save your progress in Call of Duty you need to have enough space on the drive on which the game is installed. So check the available storage space on the drive, usually the C drive, and make sure there’s enough space for Call of Duty to record your progress. It may be necessary to empty some of the storage space if you run out.

Authorizing Call of Duty via a controlled folder and firewall

In many cases, Call of Duty fails to save progress due to restrictions imposed by your antivirus software or Windows Defender . To solve this problem, simply modify your Windows security settings to allow the game to pass through your firewall. For third-party antivirus software, add Call of Duty to the whitelist too. Here’s how to do it:

  • Search for “Windows Security” in the Start menu.
  • Go to Virus and Threat Protection.
  • Click on Manage ransomware protection under Ransomware protection.
  • Enable controlled folder access if it is disabled.
  • Add Call of Duty to the list of exceptions. If not found, click on Browse all applications, locate the game and add it to the exception.
  • Authorize Call of Duty via the Windows firewall.

Is the configuration file write-protected?

As with most games, the configuration file in Call of Duty dictates the behavior of the game. Therefore, if it becomes write-protected due to manual adjustments or updates, this can lead to problems saving progress. To remedy this situation, locate the configuration file in Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty Black Ops\players\save . Look for lines 499 and 500 or search for “file .svg”. Edit the two lines in the save file you wish to load and save the changes.

check integrity of game files

If the previous solutions didn’t work, or if you couldn’t find the required entries in the configuration file, this method may help. Checking the integrity of game files can detect and repair corrupt or missing files. Follow these steps depending on your game launcher:

If you’re on Steam :

  1. Launch Steam and go to Library.
  2. Right-click on Call of Duty and select Properties.
  3. Go to the LOCAL FILES tab.
  4. Click on CHECK INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES.

If you’re on Battle Net :

  • Open the Battle.net client and find your game.
  • Click on the gear icon and select Analyze and Repair.
  • Click on Start Analysis and wait for the process to complete.
  • Restart your computer and launch the game.
