Just when we thought that compact smartphones had disappeared from the market, at the beginning of 2022 Samsung surprised us with its Galaxy S22. It met a newcomer in the middle of the year, the Nothing Phone 1. The latter, like the Galaxy S22, has the assets to convince a large number of consumers. Many users are indecisive between the Nothing Phone 1 and the Galaxy S22, wondering which one to choose.

Comparison of the design and screen of the Nothing Phone 1 and the Galaxy S22

The Nothing Phone 1 is a large smartphone with a width of 75.8 mm and a thickness of 8.3 mm. It weighs 193.5 g. These dimensions make it look massive, only slightly heavier than its competitors. This phone has relatively wide and uniform black borders and a glass back protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

The Nothing Phone 1 features a 6.5-inch OLED display with a Full HD+ definition of 1080 x 2400 pixels. Like the back of the phone, a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 panel protects the screen. Its refresh rate of 120 Hz allows an exemplary fluidity on all applications. The manufacturer of the Nothing Phone 1 gives its screen a maximum brightness of 1200 nits although it has limited it to 700 nits. This allows to preserve the autonomy and to offer a good comfort of vision in all circumstances.


The Galaxy S22 measures 146 x 70.6 x 7.6 mm. Smaller than its predecessor, the S21, it nevertheless retains IP68 certification, making it a water and dust resistant smartphone. With a perfectly flat back, it has a glass back, matt, on which fingerprints are invisible, or almost.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 has a compact size, with a flat 6.1-inch Amoled LTPS display that occupies 89% of its front. Its Full HD+ definition (1080 x 2340 pixels) gives it a high resolution of 425 dpi. The screen has a refresh rate ranging from 48 Hz to 120 Hz. Its brightness reaches 809 cd/m2, which guarantees an excellent brightness even outdoors.

Who between Nothing Phone 1 and Galaxy S22 has the best Camera

The Nothing Phone 1 carries a dual-sensor camera block on the back: A powerful 50MP sensor incorporating a floating lens to provide optical and digital image stabilization; Another Ultra powerful 50MP sensor with 14mm focal length and f/2.4 aperture. The Samsung Galaxy S22 is equipped with the same photo block as the Galaxy S22+. This block consists of a 50MP main sensor with wide-angle optics (f/1.8, equivalent to 24mm, OIS), another 12MP sensor with ultra-wide-angle (f/2.2, 13mm) and a 10MP module with telephoto lens (f/2.4, equivalent to 70mm) offering 3x magnification.

Nothing Phone 1 and Galaxy S22 battery life


The Nothing Phone 1 is equipped with a 4,500-mAh battery. This is enough to guarantee it a comfortable battery life of one day in heavy use and one and a half days in moderate use.

The Nothing Phone 1 does not come with a charger. However, Nothing offers on its official website the compatible charger for 35 Euros. The Nothing Phone 1 is compatible with fast charging 33 W wired 15 W wireless and 5 W for reverse charging. With this charger, it takes 1 h 9 min for a complete recharge.

With its 25 W charging support, the Galaxy S22 unfortunately does not have the fast charging that Samsung has inaugurated on the S22+ and S22 Ultra (45 W). The Galaxy S22 is no longer supplied with the compatible charger. The latter of 3700 mAh is capable of fully charging the phone in 1 h 9 min. According to some tests, the Galaxy S22 has a battery life of about 14 h 30 min.

Technical specifications of the Nothing Phone 1 and Galaxy S22


The Nothing Phone 1 is a smartphone that carries a Snapdragon 778G+ processor, etched in 6 nm and clocked at 2.5 GHz. This mid-range processor from Qualcomm is a SoC backed by either 8GB RAM and 128GB storage or 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. This second version of the Nothing Phone has an interface that does not experience any slowdown. Its multitasking is perfectly smooth as you can relaunch an open application without it restarting.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 has an Exynos 2200 processor. The latter allows managing the « mobile ray tracing » and thus a better trajectory of the light and a better quality reflection. A RAM of 8 GB and a storage of 128 GB support this Exynos 2200. This is enough to give it a fluidity, speed and responsiveness satisfactory.

Price and market presence of the Nothing Phone 1 and the Galaxy S22

The Nothing Phone 1 is available on the market since July 2022. Its 8 GB RAM – 128 GB storage version costs 469, 99 Euros while the 12 GB RAM – 256 GB storage version costs 549 Euros.

Samsung released its Galaxy S22 on February 9, 2022 contrary to its habit of releasing its S series in March. Samsung charges the S22 at 859 Euros. However, it can be acquired at the best price of 659 Euros at Amazon for example.
