Xiaomi has just unveiled its new mid-range flagship line: the Redmi Note 17 series, made official in China on July 14, 2026. On the menu: giant batteries (up to around 10,000mAh depending on the model), a 200MP camera on the top tier, and 100W fast charging. A fun detail: Xiaomi skips the Note 16 entirely, jumping straight from the Note 15 to the Note 17. Here’s everything to know about the three models, their specs and their international rollout.
Three models, a clear positioning
The series comes in three versions: the Redmi Note 17, the Redmi Note 17 Pro and the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. As often with Redmi, the logic is clear: the standard model targets the best price/battery-life ratio, while the Pro and Pro Max move upmarket on camera, screen and charging. Note that at the Chinese announcement, Xiaomi mainly detailed the Note 17 and Note 17 Pro; full specs for the Pro Max remain, at this stage, largely from leaks, to be officially confirmed.

Redmi Note 17: battery life as the killer argument
The base model doesn’t do things by halves. It would pack a 9,000mAh battery, a colossal capacity for a phone in this category, paired with a flat 1.5K OLED display and a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chip. In other words, a phone built to easily last two days away from the charger, with a sharp, smooth display — exactly what the Redmi Note audience wants.
Redmi Note 17 Pro Max: the 10,000mAh, 200MP monster
This is the star of the range. According to leaks, the Pro Max would target a battery of 10,000mAh or more, unheard of on a mainstream phone, with 100W fast charging to offset that huge capacity. On camera, it would lean on a 200MP main sensor (a Samsung ISOCELL HP5), backed by an 8MP ultra-wide and a 32MP selfie sensor. The screen would reach around 7 inches, and the chip could be a MediaTek Dimensity 7500 (reports still differ here). If these figures hold up, the Note 17 Pro Max would become an absolute benchmark for battery life.
Keep in mind: these Pro Max specs are solid leaks, but until Xiaomi makes them official for this specific model, treat them with caution.

Why Xiaomi skips the Note 16
The direct jump from Note 15 to Note 17 is intriguing. This numbering gymnastics is no accident: it mainly aims to align the brand with favorable numbers across markets and mark a generational break. In practice, for the buyer, it changes nothing essential — this is indeed Xiaomi’s new mid-range generation.
Release date and international availability
The series launched in China on July 14, 2026. For the rest of the world, you’ll have to wait: availability in India is expected around late 2026, and a wider global launch (including Europe) rather in Q1 2027. International prices haven’t leaked yet, but the Redmi Note line remains historically one of the most aggressive on the market for value.
While you wait for the Note 17 in Europe
The Redmi Note 17 series won’t reach us for a few months. Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 14, already available, remains an excellent entry point into the Redmi world, with its 120Hz AMOLED screen and fast charging.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 5G (8 + 256 GB), with a 6.67″ 120Hz AMOLED screen and 45W charging, offers great value.

What it means for you
The Redmi Note 17 series confirms an underlying trend: giant batteries are becoming the mid-range’s new battleground, now that the megapixel race is running out of steam. For users, that’s excellent news: a phone under 400 euros able to last two full days, with a 200MP sensor on the top tier, reshuffles the deck against far pricier models. The European price and exact date remain to be seen: we’ll update this article as soon as the international announcement lands.
