How to connect a keyboard and a mouse to a smartphone

It is possible to grant more comfort, speed and precision to the use of our smartphone by using it with the keyboard and mouse. This is done through the following methods:

UGREEN USB C to USB 3.1 Adapter
$8.99
AuviPal 2-in-1 Micro USB to USB Adapter
(OTG Cable + Power Cable)
6 $.94

Using an OTG adapter cable

The On-The-Go (OTG) adapter cable is made up of a classic USB tip on one side and a USB-C tip, compatible with smartphones and tablets on the other side. It allows you to use not only the keyboard and the mouse, but also many other peripherals such as the external hard drive, game controllers, etc.

·         USB OTG adaptation is unfortunately not possible on all smartphones

It is therefore necessary to check this beforehand, before purchasing or designing the adapter. For this, we recommend the Easy OTG Checker app. This application has the double advantage of automatically detecting not only the hardware configuration, but also the software requirements for the OTG.

·         How to connect a keyboard or a mouse with the USB OTG adaptor?

Once you have acquired the adapter, all you have to do is follow the following steps:

  • Connect the plug of your keyboard or mouse to the end of the Standard USB cable
  • Connect the USB-C tip to the USB-C port of your smartphone, the port that is often used for charging.
  • The device will be automatically detected, just like on the computer
  • Run an application that uses the keyboard (Messaging for example) and type on the keys, the characters entered will appear on the smartphone.

Connecting the Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse to the smartphone

Type C to Multi USB Port Adapter

You just have to proceed as you would to connect a Bluetooth speaker or any other Bluetooth device, through the following steps:

  • Connect the Bluetooth key from the keyboard to the smartphone. Some modern keyboards and mice do not have these USB Bluetooth adapters, just skip this step.
  • Activate Bluetooth on the keyboard/mouse via the switch
  • Activate Bluetooth on the smartphone or tablet and search for and then add the device.
  • Open an app and start using the device

Connecting the PC keyboard or mouse to the Smartphone via WIFI

This technique consists of connecting the PC and the smartphone in order to transfer the text entered from the PC to the smartphone via the PC’s browser. This method generally requires the installation of an application on the smartphone and the activation of Wifi on the PC and the smartphone. We highly recommend the WIFI Keyboard app. After installing it, it is important to change the default input method on your smartphone by following these steps:

  • In Settings, enter Language and input, then Current keyboard
  • Check that WIFI Keyboard is activated among the available keyboards
  • Choose WIFI Keyboard in the option that offers you to choose your keyboard

Once this modification of your keyboard has been made, all you have to do is launch the WIFI Keyboard application. Links are then displayed and all you have to do is choose one which will be introduced into the address bar of your PC’s browser and therefore, everything that will be entered on the browser will be sent to the smartphone.
