Did you know that you could charge your phone using another phone? This is called wireless reverse charging. You are probably wondering how it works. In this article, we will first explain what it is; then we will introduce you to some phones that offer this feature; finally, we will give you the process of reverse charging.
Reverse charging is the process by which a Qi-compatible cell phone (compatible with inductive charging) is used to charge another device such as a smartphone, connected watch, tablet, smart bracelet or Bluetooth headphones.
It should be noted that this charging technique is very slow unlike using a normal charger. It can take hours to fill up the battery of the destination device. It should also be noted that the battery of the smartphone used as a charger loses autonomy during the process. However, this loss of autonomy can be minimized by plugging the charger phone into an electrical outlet and setting a threshold of autonomy that should not be exceeded.
It is also important to know that if the phone you want to use as a charger has an energy level lower than 20%, it will be impossible to carry out this task because this functionality will be disabled.
This technology is found on some Android phones. These phones have an induction charging system. Here are some examples of the best-known Qi compatible smartphones:
We remind you that this is not an exhaustive list, as the number of Android phone manufacturers that offer inductive charging technology continues to grow over time. You can check the datasheet of your smartphone from the manufacturer’s website to see if your phone is Qi compatible.
First, get a Qi-compatible smartphone that you will use to charge your phone. Then check that this phone has enough power. The procedure may differ depending on the brand of phone. For our case, we will use a Samsung phone as a charger.
The wireless reverse charging technology is currently expensive because it is reserved for high-end devices. However, it is a rapidly evolving technology. Despite the fact that this phone charging system is very slow it is nevertheless very useful for troubleshooting emergencies.
