The best Mac webcams

Many users want to improve the quality of the camera image by using webcams that connect to the device and allow video calls for work meetings, family chats or game streams on popular platforms.

If you consider yourself one of those users, we recommend you read on to discover a great selection of webcams compatible with Mac computers. We’ve included all sorts of webcam models available in a wide range of features and price points to meet the needs of every consumer.

Logitech C505

Logitech C505
$41.68

We start with an entry-level model that appeals to the public with its value for money. The Logitech C505 (43.99 euros) is an external webcam offering 720p HD resolution and 30 frames per second with a 60-degree diagonal field of view, fixed focus and automatic light correction.

It features an omnidirectional microphone with noise-canceling technology for clear conversations up to ten feet away. Its extra-long, two-meter USB-A cable lets you place it in any position you want for the best possible result and experience.

Ozone Livex50

A very affordable webcam is Ozone’s Livex50 (48.90 euros), with full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) at 30 frames per second, autofocus technology and a dual microphone so you don’t need anything else for video calls.

It has a clip-on system to attach it to any surface, and a flap that covers the lens when not in use.

Trust Tyro

Another budget-friendly option outside of Logitech’s extensive portfolio is the Trust Tyro (£30.55), a webcam with Full HD 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second, autofocus and a wide-angle lens, as well as automatic white balance for clear video in all lighting conditions.

It is compatible with all major video calling services and software, and can be easily placed on any computer with its screen clamp or on the desktop with the included tripod. It’s Plug&Play, so just plug it into a USB port on your computer to start using it.

Creative Live!

Creative Live!
$51.99

Another inexpensive webcam with Full HD 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second for a sharper image during video calls. The Creative Live! ($59.99) comes with a clip for easy attachment to a monitor, and has a lens cap to ensure privacy.

It has a 77-degree field of view for minimal image quality distortion, and its dual microphones allow it to capture sound clearly without forcing your voice. It can be rotated horizontally 360° and tilted vertically 30°.

Papalook PA930 2K HDR

We raised the bar a notch with the Papalook PA930 (79.99 euros), a webcam with an improved design and superior image quality since it can record in Full HD 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second, offering a more fluid and natural feel. However, it can also record in 2K (2560 x 1440p) at 30 frames per second.

It incorporates two omnidirectional microphones to pick up sound from all sides, but thanks to the built-in noise reduction technology, this is greatly reduced. It can be configured to set the wide angle to 90 degrees, and HDR (High Dynamic Range) gives a more realistic result.

Trust Taxon 2K

Another proposal from Trust that stands out for its image quality is the Trust Taxon (49.30 euros), a webcam with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels (QHD) at 30 frames per second that can also be used in Full HD 1080p or HD 720p. It has an autofocus to keep the focus on the user at all times.

It has a built-in privacy filter to protect your privacy: slide the tab and the lens will be covered, and its activity light alerts the user if it is active. It can be placed on a tripod (not included) or attached to the monitor with its mounting bracket.

Razer Kiyo

Razer Kiyo
$69.99

Razer is a manufacturer specializing in devices and accessories bearing the gaming label, with products ranging from laptops to mice, headsets and keyboards. Some time ago, it launched the Razer Kiyo (59.99 euros), its webcam designed for streamers with 720p HD video resolution at 60 frames per second.

It stands out from many others on the market thanks to its fast and accurate autofocus and the LED light ring around the lens, which improves image quality in low light conditions in the absence of other light sources.

Elgato FaceCam

Elgato FaceCam
$129.99

One of the latest additions to the world of webcams comes from the popular Elgato brand, known for its products for streamers and content creation.  The Elgato Facecam (136.99 euros) shares some similarities with the Razer Kiyo Pro by incorporating the Sony STARVIS CMOS sensor, which is used in security cameras and performs well in different lighting conditions.

It can record Full HD 1080p video at 60 frames per second, has a field of view of 82°, an aperture of 24 mm, a focusing distance of 30 to 120 cm (no autofocus) and does not have a microphone. Although this last point may seem a disadvantage, since it is intended for streamers, they usually have a quality microphone to capture their voice well.

OBSBOT Tiny

OBSBOT Tiny
$427.99

The OBSBOT Tiny (199 euros) has a different design and features that are not present in other models using artificial intelligence to follow the user and keep him in the right frame at all times. It can stream videos in high resolution Full HD 1080p at 30 frames per second.

Implements gestures to control the webcam that also rely on artificial intelligence: select/unselect target tracking, zoom in/out, etc., without pressing any buttons. Incorporates two omnidirectional microphones with noise suppression and “smart” white balance.

AVerMedia Live Streamer CAM 513 4K

AVerMedia Live Streamer CAM 513 4K
$140.76

We finish with another “high-end” webcam designed for streamers and live broadcasts but also performs very well on video calls, the AVerMedia Live Streamer CAM 512 (178.56 euros), a model capable of recording video in high resolution 4K at 30 frames per second or FullHD 1080p at 60 frames per second for smoother motion.

It has a wide field of view (94°) and offers unique effects/filters, ePTZ AI motion tracking, custom framing and more with Camengine 3.0 software (only available for Windows). Its 360° privacy shutter keeps you safe when not in use.
