The Vivo X80 Pro is a remarkable phone with one of the best cameras of the moment, a beautiful screen and an amazing autonomy. Despite its clumsy and cumbersome software, it is still one of the best phones around.

The X90 Pro+ is not yet released, but according to rumors, it would have even better qualities than the X80 Pro. We will try to take a closer look at these qualities in this article.

Design and Release Date: Vivo X90 Pro+ vs Vivo X80 Pro

Vivo has announced that it is releasing a new phone and already all the people who love this brand of phone are already enter to look for its exact release date, well sorry but the x90 Pro+ has no official release date at the moment.

Nevertheless, according to rumors its release date would be December 25, 2022, although it may be delayed for feature updates or other company related issues.

The X80 Pro’s finish is very nice to the touch, It’s kind of a smooth, soft, almost silky texture that doesn’t make sense on a sheet of glass. It measures 164.6 x 75.3 x 9.1 mm and weighs 215 g / 219 g. The Vivo X80 Pro is available in three colors, Cosmic Black, Blue and Orange.

Instead of Corning’s Gorilla Glass, the Vivo X80 Pro uses competitor Schott’s Xensation Up protective glass to protect the phone’s screen from drops and scratches. It has also invested in an IP68 rating, which should keep the X80 Pro safe enough from water and dust.

Which one has the better specs?

The Vivo X90 Pro+ is said to feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED E6 display provided by Samsung. Its display would support a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a high-frequency dimming of 1440 Hz. The Pro+ could be equipped with an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

The X80 Pro’s screen is one of the main clues that it is in fact the successor to the X70 Pro+, rather than last year’s X70 Pro. At 6.78 inches the Vivo X80 Pro’s screen is quite large compared to other phones. Its 1440 x 3200 resolution makes it a more detailed QHD+ screen than many other flagships.

Thanks to the use of the latest LTPO 3.0 display technology, the X80 Pro can also adjust its refresh rate from 1 Hz to 120 Hz to optimize power consumption. Aside from its technical specifications, its display is also beautiful to look at, bright, vivid and colorful, and even comfortable to use under direct, bright light.

As for the camera, the Vivo X90 Pro will reportedly feature a four-camera unit on the back, led by a 50 MP Sony IMX989V sensor. The main camera will be accompanied by a 48 MP Sony IMX598 ultra-wide camera, a 50 MP Sony IMX578 portrait lens and an 8 MP OmniVision OV64A periscope zoom lens supporting 3.5x optical zoom and 10x hybrid zoom.

The front camera of the X90 Pro+ would be equipped with a 32 MP sensor. The X80 Pro is equipped with four cameras at the rear, we have a wide angle sensor of 50 MP, another 8 MP telephoto periscope, another 12 MP telephoto and an ultra wide sensor of 48 MP. As for the front camera, we have a 32 MP sensor.

On the performance side, the Vivo X90 Pro+ will reportedly use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. According to some rumors, there will be no variant of the X90 Pro+ equipped with the Dimensity chip as its predecessors were. Its processor would be supported by 12GB of RAM and 256 or 512GB of internal storage. It would run on Android 13 and use the Adreno 680 graphics processor.

The X80 Pro also uses Qualcomm’s processor, but the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Its chip is accompanied by a RAM of 8 or 12 GB and internal storage of 128, 256 or 512 GB, it does not have a micro SD card slot, so its storage is not expandable. On the graphics processor side, we have an Adreno 730. The Vivo X80 Pro runs on Android 12.

The X90 Pro+ would have a battery Li-Po of 5000 mAh what should bring him a decent autonomy. But what makes it quite interesting is that it would have a fast charge of 120 W which would allow it to recharge completely in 20 min. It would also have a 50W wireless fast charge and a 10W wireless reverse charge.

The Vivo X80 Pro also has a Li-Po battery, but of 4700 mAh, its capacity is smaller compared to the X90 Pro+, but it’s still a good capacity for long duration autonomy. It has a fast 80W charge, so it will charge slower than the Pro+, meaning you’ll have to wait less than 38 min for a full charge.

But what makes the X80 Pro even more appealing is its 50W wireless fast charge, so it will fully charge in 50 min. It also has a 10W reverse charge.

When it comes to battery, performance and even camera, the X90 Pro+ is a much better phone than the X80 Pro. As far as the screen is concerned, the two phones have quite similar specifications, so on this point they are quite similar.

Price and verdict

On the price side, the Vivo X90 Pro+ is 851 €, it is indeed a little expensive, but given its characteristics it is quite normal. The X80 Pro is not as expensive as the X90 Pro+, but it is still quite expensive, it is at 798 €. Both phones have attractive qualities, but the better phone for me here is the X80 Pro. The Vivo X80 Pro certainly doesn’t have as many great features as the X90 Pro+, those attributes are still far above many other phones these days and compared to the X90 Pro+, it’s cheaper
