Tecno Phantom X2 vs Tecno Phantom X2 Pro: Which offers better value for money?

If you’re looking for a high-end phone at an affordable price, Tecno’s latest flagships, the Tecno Phantom X2 and Tecno Phantom X2 Pro, are options to consider. Both offer impressive performance, advanced features and an interesting camera department. But which of these phones is the best choice for you?

Design and screen

The Tecno Phantom X2 and Tecno Phantom X2 Pro share an elegant design with a glass back, aluminium frame and front screen protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus. Both feature a large central camera module at the rear and an AMOLED display with a diagonal of 6.8 inches and Full HD+ resolution. The 1080×2400-pixel Full HD+ display offers a 120Hz refresh rate and an integrated fingerprint reader.

The main difference lies in the colour options. The Tecno Phantom X2 Pro is available in a Mars Orange leather variant, offering a touch of originality. In contrast, the Tecno Phantom X2 is available in a more discreet Moonlight Silver version. Both models are also available in Stardust Grey. Subscribe to DeepL Pro to edit this document. Tecno Phantom X2 vs Tecno Phantom X2 Pro: Performance and storage

Both the Tecno Phantom X2 and the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro are powered by a high-performance chipset, offering a fluid and responsive experience. This is the Dimensity 9000, MediaTek’s flagship chipset for 2022. However, the Pro variant is equipped with a slightly more powerful version of RAM, which may have an impact on performance during intensive tasks.

The vanilla version has just 8GB of RAM while the Pro version has 12GB, so the Pro version wins the hardware comparison. The operating system installed on these phones is Android 12 based on HiOS 12. As for internal storage, both models offer a generous amount of internal memory, so you can easily store your apps, photos and other files. Both phones feature 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.

Camera duel

The main and only major difference between the Phantom X2 and the Phantom X2 Pro lies in their camera configuration. While the X2 features a mid-range camera, the Pro model is equipped with a high-end configuration. On the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro, you’ll find a set of three rear cameras, comprising a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens with 2.5x optical zoom and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens.

By contrast, the standard version has a 64MP main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a less useful 2MP depth sensor. Both phones have a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies.

Verdict

Ultimately, the choice between the Tecno Phantom X2 and the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro depends on your personal preferences and budget. If you’re looking for a more affordable option while still getting high-end performance and a solid camera, the Tecno Phantom X2 could be your best bet. However, if you’re prepared to invest a little more to get slightly better performance and a unique colour option, the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro is certainly worth considering.

Whichever you choose, these two phones offer excellent value for money and are sure to deliver a satisfying user experience
