Since February 24, 2022 the Chinese giant, OPPO never ceases to surprise us, especially with its most recent successes case in point the Oppo Find x5 pro and the Reno 8 pro. From their designs, to their cameras, battery life, respective prices and performance, we look at which one is the better deal?
For its new nugget (Find X5 Pro), the Chinese○ designer offers three colours namely Ceramic Black, Ceramic White, Blue (eco leather); the phone weighs 198-218g, its dimensions are 163.7 x 73.9 x 8.5 or 8.8mm; The phone owes its shape and smoothness to a sleek ceramic material and its polishing in 14 processes over 269 minutes. It has an IP68 rating which means it’s dust and water resistant (up to 1.5m for 30 minutes).
The Reno 8 Pro has a sculpture-like back cover, so it is pleasant to look at and touch. This design hasn’t been forged at 800 degrees and polished to a nanometer. It is lighter and smaller than its opponent of the day (183g for 161.2 x 74.2 x 7.3 mm). The latter is protected by Corning Gorilla 5 glass.
It has an ultra-bright AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz
The camera on the Find X5 Pro has 03 cameras: a 50 MP Sony IMX 766 wide-angle camera with sensitivity sensor and omni-directional 05-axis levelling stabilisers, a 50 MP ultra wide-angle camera also with a 110-degree view, and a 13 MP telephoto lens with a hybrid zoom that can zoom in up to 5 times and a digital zoom up to 20 times.
The Reno 8 pro also has 03 cameras but with less glamorous features than the Find X5 Pro, apart from the hybrid zoom. There’s a 50MP main sensor with multi-directional PDAF, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro.
The Find X5 Pro easily wins this display duel with its 6.7-inch LTPO2 AMOLED panel. This panel has a maximum brightness of 1300 nits, with a resolution of 1440 x 3216 pixels at a density of 525 dpi.
The Reno 8 Pro pales in comparison to the Find X5 Pro, but it’s no slouch either. Like the Find X5 Pro, it has a 120Hz refresh rate and the same 6.7-inch screen size, but this Amoled panel offers a resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels at a density of 394 ppi instead.
The Reno 8 Pro has a 4500 mAh battery that can achieve 50% in 11 minutes, thanks to its super-fast charging, and could allow us to play for two hours with only 05 minutes of charging. Its battery can withstand more than 1600 charge cycles, (2 times greater than industry standards)
The Find X5 Pro’s battery is Li-Po, with a capacity of 5000mAh, featuring 80W charging that can give 50% in 12 mins, and 50W wireless Wi-Fi charging that can reach 100% in 47 mins and reverse wireless charging.
The Oppo Find X5 Pro packs an Android 12 operating system, ColorOS 13, which can be upgraded to version 13. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm SM8450 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip with a 4-nanometer chip size. It is an octa-core CPU (1×3.05 GHz Cortex-X2 & 3×2.85 GHz Cortex-A710 & 4×1.80 GHz Cortex-A510) combined with an Adreno 730 GPU for the Global version and a Mali-G710 MC10 GPU for the Chinese version. This chipset is accompanied by a RAM memory of 8 or 12 GB, and for its storage, you can choose between 256 or 512 GB. – Global
The Reno 8 Pro, on the other hand, features a MediaTek Dimension 8100-MAX 5nm chip with Mali-G610 MC6 graphics. The octa-core is also coupled with 8 or 12 GB of RAM or 256 GB of internal storage. The device has a highly conductive cooling system. It runs Android 12 with ColorOS 12.1 on top.
According to versus, which explains why the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is better than the Dimensity 8100-MAX, Qualcomm’s chip scored a total of 91 points compared to MediaTek 75 points. Hence the Find X5 Pro performs better than the Reno 8 Pro.
Looking at the above points, we can see that the Oppo Find X5 Pro wins the duel against the Oppo Reno 8 Pro, whether it’s for gaming, fluidity in handling, to better battery conservation, we highly recommend it.
That said, starting at $678.00 / €613.58 the Reno 8 Pro is still a great deal for those who don’t have a big budget to afford the Find X5 Pro which started at $979.99 / €1079.98.
