OnePlus Nord Buds 2r vs OnePlus Nord Buds 2: Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)

The biggest difference between the Nord Buds 2 and the Nord Buds 2r is that the latter doesn’t benefit from Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). The Nord Buds 2, which costs slightly more than the 2r, has ANC, which reduces noise by 25 decibels on both earpieces.

IP55 protection rating

The Nord Buds 2 and Nord Buds 2r have an IP55 rating, which means they offer decent protection against dust and low-pressure water jets from all directions. This ensures durability during training or outdoor activities.

Audio quality

Both models offer impressive audio quality. The OnePlus Nord Buds 2r has a well-balanced sound profile with detailed highs and mids, while the Nord Buds 2 offer a punchier bass response. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference in terms of sonic signature.

Connectivity

Both headphones use Bluetooth 5.2 for seamless and reliable wireless connectivity. Users can expect a stable connection and minimal latency when paired with compatible devices.

OnePlus Nord Buds 2r vs OnePlus Nord Buds 2: Design

The OnePlus Nord Buds 2r shares a similar design to the Nord Buds 2 but with some notable changes. The Nord Buds 2r earphones have curved stems instead of being flat like the Nord Buds 2. Compared to the Nord Buds 2, the shiny circular touch control surface on the outer shell has been made smaller. In addition, the bulbous part now has a matt finish, which effectively conceals fingerprints.

In contrast, the Nord Buds 2 have a simplistic appearance and are constructed entirely from plastic materials. The stem of the device has a matt finish, while a shiny disc is present on the surface for the touch controls. The glossy part of the earpiece is also bulbous. The earpieces come with different sized silicone tips to fit different ear shapes.

Verdict

When comparing the OnePlus Nord Buds 2r to the Nord Buds 2, it’s clear that each model has its own strengths. The Nord Buds 2r offers longer battery life and shares a similar design with minor modifications. On the other hand, the Nord Buds 2 offer active noise cancellation, making them an ideal choice for those looking for an immersive audio experience. Ultimately, the choice between the two depends on your priorities, whether that’s extended battery life or noise cancellation capabilities. Whatever you choose, both headphones offer excellent value for money in the budget segment.
