How to Automatically Copy and Paste Between iPhone and Mac

To automatically copy text between your MacBook and iPhone, you can use Apple’s Continuity feature, which includes Handoff, Universal Clipboard, and AirDrop. Make sure both devices are signed into the same Apple ID account and are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Here’s how you can transfer text between your MacBook and iPhone:

Use Universal Copy-Paste (Universal Clipboard):

  1. Make sure Handoff is enabled on both of your devices:
    • On your MacBook, go to “System Preferences” > “General” and make sure “Enable Handoff” is checked.
    • On your iPhone, go to “Settings” > “General” > “Handoff” and make sure “Handoff” is enabled.
  2. Sign in to the same Apple ID account on both devices.
  3. Copy the text to one of the devices:
    • Select the text on your MacBook and right-click, then choose “Copy” or use the Command (⌘) + C key combination.
  4. Paste the text on the other device:
    • Switch to your iPhone.
    • Open the app you want to paste the text into.
    • Hold your finger on the location where you want to paste the text and select “Paste.”

Universal Clipboard lets you copy content, such as text, images, photos, and videos, from one Apple device and then paste it onto another nearby Apple device. Make sure your devices meet the Continuity system requirements to use this feature.

Use AirDrop:

  1. Enable AirDrop on both devices:
    • On your MacBook, open Finder, go to “Go” > “AirDrop” and make sure AirDrop is enabled.
    • On your iPhone, swipe down from the upper right corner of the screen to open Control Center, tap “AirDrop” and select “Everyone” or “Contacts only” depending on your preferences.
    • Select text on your MacBook: Click and drag to select text.
  2. Share via AirDrop: Right-click the selected text, choose “Share,” then select your iPhone name from the AirDrop list.
  3. Accept reception on your iPhone: On your iPhone, an AirDrop notification will appear. Tap it to accept the text.

These methods should allow you to automatically copy text between your MacBook and iPhone smoothly.
