Apple is getting ready to relaunch its Apple LG smart home ambitions with an unexpected partner. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple worked with LG on seven home accessories that will be sold under the LG name: a lock, a thermostat, a video doorbell, three cameras and a temperature sensor. Leaked images and regulatory filings back up the report.
Seven LG-branded products, designed with Apple

Bloomberg describes a clear split. LG builds the hardware and handles support, while Apple shapes the design, features and engineering. It is a familiar playbook: Apple has long relied on “second-party” suppliers such as Belkin and Logitech, which lets it grow its ecosystem without carrying the full cost of manufacturing and service.
The seven products are:
- LG Video Doorbell Wired;
- LG Floodlight Cam;
- LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In;
- LG Indoor Cam Plug-In;
- LG Smart Deadbolt Lock;
- LG Smart Thermostat;
- LG Temperature Sensor.
LG has applied for FCC and UL Solutions approval for all seven. The filings do not mention Apple, and LG asked that photos and details stay confidential until early next year.
What the leaked images show

On October 7, 9to5Mac shared images of the lock, thermostat and temperature sensor posted by pdfu, along with camera photos from the X account @ringo_tech, which it calls small but credible. They hint at a few hardware details:
- the wired doorbell has a main camera plus a downward-facing one, a Thread antenna and dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz, WPA2/WPA3);
- the floodlight camera has separate left and right lights, infrared LEDs, an ambient-light sensor, a microphone and a speaker, plus Thread and NFC;
- the outdoor camera uses a ball-joint mount and O-ring sealing, with the same audio and infrared hardware;
- the indoor camera includes a motorized mechanism for vertical tilt.
Bloomberg adds that many of the devices support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread and Matter, and that the lock includes ultra-wideband, which could allow automatic unlocking as an authorized user approaches. No pricing has leaked.
A two-step timeline
Do not expect everything next week. Gurman says Apple’s own products come first, around October 13: a new smart home hub, an upgraded HomePod mini and a refreshed TV box. The LG accessories are expected to lag by at least a few months.
Why it matters for the smart home

HomeKit launched in 2014 but has fallen behind Amazon and Google. Teaming up with LG puts Apple in direct competition with Ring and Nest. For LG, best known for TVs and appliances, it is a notable shift: it would be the company’s first smart lock sold outside South Korea and its first indoor camera in almost a decade.
Bloomberg also mentions further Apple plans: a privacy-focused home monitoring device, a hub variant with a screen on a robotic arm, and a home security monitoring service. Apple is counting on “Siri AI” to revive the category. Neither company has commented.
The bottom line
For now, everything rests on press reports, regulatory filings and leaks, with nothing officially confirmed. Next week’s Apple event may clear things up. Tell us in the comments what you want most from this Apple LG smart home push, and browse more news on Wanda-techs.com.
