TapeACall is a phone call recorder published by Mosaic S.r.l., an Italian company. It has been around on iPhone for many years and also comes in an Android version.
What TapeACall is for
iOS doesn’t let apps listen to calls directly, so on iPhone TapeACall adds a recording line to the conversation, much like a three-way call. Your carrier has to support that. When you hang up, a notification takes you straight to the recording. Files can be named, organised, transcribed to text and shared by email or text message, or sent to Dropbox, Evernote and Google Drive. You can also move them to a new phone or download them to a computer. The app is free to install, but most of the advanced features, transcription included, sit behind a subscription.
Who is it for?
It’s aimed at people who need an exact record of a conversation: journalists doing phone interviews, professionals taking instructions over the phone, or anyone who wants to keep the details of a call with a customer service line. Whatever the reason, the other person still has to agree.
