You have a misunderstanding with someone and the latter has blocked you on Whatsapp, this is a tip that will permits you to unblock yourself without having to count on a third party or another application.

You just have to follow the steps below in order to get out of this situation.

Step 1 : Write down the phone number of the person who blocked you

If you have the person’s contact saved in your phone, write it down somewhere and delete it from your phone.


Step 2 : Back up your chat

Backing up WhatsApp chat (messages and media files) is quite a child’s play, but for those who don’t know how to go about it, here is a quick tutorial to creating a Google Drive backup.

  1. Open WhatsApp

Click on Menu button» Settings» Chats» Backup Chats

  • Click on Google Drive and set the backup frequency at your convenience.
  • Likely you will be invited to choose a Google account where you will save your chat history. If you don’t have a Google account, click on Add Account when suggested. Memorise the Google Account you use for the backup.
  • Click on Backup to select the network (using mobile data or Wi-Fi)  you wish to use for the backup. Please note that backing up on mobile phone (mobile data) may incure additional data charges.

Step 3 : Delete your WhatsApp account

Go to account settings on your WhatsApp and delete your account.

Deleting your number this will simply mean that you are no longer active on WhatsApp. Technically you can’t block people who aren’t on whatsapp.


Whoever blocks you will no longer have you on the blocked list.

Step 4 : Clear your WhatsApp data

Go to your phone settings Â» applications Â» WhatsApp ; and clear data.


Step 5 : Now reactivate WhatsApp

Open your WhatsApp and register on the platform

Step 6 : Restore chats

  1. Make sure that the Google Account used in backing up was added to your phone.
  2. Uninstall and install WhatsApp.
  3. After checking your phone number, you will be directed to recover your messages and media files from Google Drive.
  4. Once the recovery process is complete/done,click  Next and your chats be displayed after initialization is completed.
  5. After restoring your chats, WhatsApp shall start to restore your media files.

Remark: You need to restore from the back up in your Google Drive account, but if not, WhatsApp automatically recovers the back up from your local storage (SDcard memory or  internal phone memory, depending of the case).

Step 7 : Add back the contact that blocked you

Finally, save the contact you noted earlier on your phone. Now find the contact who blocked you and send a message.
