Huawei announced the launch of its latest smartphones in China: the nova 11, nova 11 Pro, and nova 11 Ultra. All come with a signature green paint job, marking the first time that the nova series has included three phones.
- The trio shares Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G chipset, but is limited to LTE cellular connectivity.
Features and prices of the nova 11 Pro and nova 11 Ultra
Both the nova 11 Pro and nova 11 Ultra are built around a 6.78-inch 10-bit AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 300Hz touch sampling rate. Some models have Kunlun Glass protection on the top with slightly curved edges. Both phones have a pill-shaped hole in the top left corner for the dual selfie cameras.
The front camera setup includes a 60MP wide camera with a FoV of 100 degrees and an 8MP camera with 2x optical zoom for portrait shots. There are three more cameras on the back, highlighted by a 50MP main camera with an aperture that can switch between f/1.4 and f/4.0. There is also a RYYB sensor and a laser autofocus. There is also an 8MP ultrawide camera and a “ten-channel color temperature sensor” that helps adjust colors on both other cameras.
Both the Huawei nova 11 Pro and Ultra have 4,500 mAh batteries with 100W charging, and the required adapter is provided in the retail box. Other features include HarmonyOS 3.0 and vegan leather backs on the green and black versions of the phones. The white and gold versions have glass backs.
The nova 11 Pro storage options are 256GB and 512GB, while the nova 11 Ultra is only available with 512GB. Prices for the nova 11 Pro start at 3,499 CNY ($510), but that’s without the Kunlun Glass – the additional protection costs 200 CNY ($30) more. Doubling the storage costs 3,999 CNY ($582), but you don’t get fancy glass on top. The nova 11 Ultra costs 4,499 CNY ($655) – that’s 500 CNY ($70) more for Kunlun Glass and satellite messaging.
Features and prices of the nova 11
The vanilla nova 11 retains the same 10-bit AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, but it comes with a larger 6.7-inch diagonal and is entirely flat. The back has the same 50MP + 8MP camera duo, as well as the color temperature sensor. At the front, the selfie zoom camera is abandoned, and there is only the 60MP FoV shooter at 100 degrees with 4K video recording.
The battery capacity is once again 4,500 mAh, but the charging is limited to 66W. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 with BLE, while the user interface is HarmonyOS 3.0 – nothing surprising there. The colors are again green, black, white, and gold, but they all have plastic on top. Prices are 2,499 CNY ($363) for the 128GB version and 2,799 CNY ($410) for the 256GB version. Putting Kunlun Glass on top is an additional 200 CNY ($30) (only for the most expensive model). There is also a version, available only in green or black, with 512GB of storage and the more sophisticated protective glass for 3,399 CNY ($495).
Pre-orders for all phones are open in China. The first sale is scheduled for precisely 10:08 a.m. local time on Wednesday, April 26th.
