Even before its official release, Xiaomi’s next phone, which will be officially presented on December 11, 2022 in China, already has quite a few competitors on the market. Among them is the iPhone 14, one of the most powerful smartphones of this year 2022. Compared to its predecessor, the Xiaomi 13 will come with many improvements but will it be powerful enough to compete with Apple’s monster? Below we’ll give you the answer.
Xiaomi’s device is said to have a Gorilla Glass Victus front panel, a Gorilla Glass 5 back panel and an aluminium frame. It is said to be 152.8 x 71.5 x 8.3 mm in size and available in ceramic black, green and ceramic white.

The iPhone 14 comes in Midnight, Purple, Starlight, Red (PRODUCT RED) and Blue. It has a Ceramic Shield front panel, a glass back and an aluminium design. It measures 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.8 mm and weighs 172 g. The phone is IP68 certified, which means that it can effectively withstand splashes, dust and water (6 metres deep for up to 30 minutes).
Both devices have interesting designs. However, the Xiaomi 13 is longer and thicker than the iPhone 14. The latter offers a wider range of colours to choose from.
Display Xiaomi 13 vs iPhone 14
The front of the Xiaomi 13 is said to house a 6.28-inch AMOLED display. This display will have a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels at 419 dpi, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 1100 nits. The HDR10+ display is said to have Dolby Vision functionality and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
The iPhone 14 has a 6.1-inch OLED Super Retina display with a resolution of 2532 x 1170 pixels at 460 dpi. It’s an HDR display with a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits and an oleophobic coating that resists fingerprints.
Performance duel
Xiaomi’s device is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset accompanied by an Adreno 740 GPU. It is said to be powered by Android 13 with a MIUI 14 software overlay. In terms of memory, the smartphone is said to have 8 or 12GB of RAM coupled with 128 or 256GB of internal storage.
The Apple smartphone’s cover houses an A15 Bionic chip backed by 6GB of RAM coupled with 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. It is equipped with an iOS 16 system which is one of the most secure mobile systems in the world.
Just as we mentioned in the iPhone 13 vs. Xiaomi 13 duel, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is better than Apple’s A15 Bionic.
The Xiaomi 13 therefore wins the performance duel because it has the most powerful processor and offers more RAM. However, it should be noted that the iPhone 14 has more storage space than its rival.
Does the Xiaomi 13 shoot better than the iPhone 14?
On the back, the Xiaomi 13 is equipped with a 50MP main camera combined with two sensors of 10MP and 12MP. On the front, there is a 32MP front camera.
The rear panel of the iPhone 14 houses a dual camera consisting of two 12 MP sensors each (main sensor and ultra-wide angle sensor) placed alongside a True Tone flash. The iPhone 14 has a 12MP True Depth front camera on its front panel.
The camera of the iPhone 14 has been tested on DXOMARK. With a score of 133, Apple’s monster was ranked 17th among the world’s best filming phones. This is better than its predecessor, which was ranked 33rd with a DXOMARK score of 125. But the iPhone 13 was able to beat the Xiaomi 13 in terms of photography. It is therefore logical that its successor does the same.
Battery and charging
The Xiaomi 13 is equipped with a 4,500 mAh Li-Po battery. It supports a 67W wired charge that provides a full battery charge in just 39 minutes. The phone also supports a 50W wireless fast charge that provides 100% charge in 53 minutes, as well as a 10W wireless reverse charge.
The iPhone 14 is powered by a built-in 3,279mAh Li-Ion battery that provides up to 16 hours of video streaming, 20 hours of video playback and 80 hours of audio playback. It supports 15W MagSafe wireless charging, 7.5W Qi wireless charging and fast wired charging (50% charge in 30 minutes with a 20W or more adapter).
The Xiaomi 13 therefore has a more powerful battery and supports faster charging compared to its rival.

Verdict Xiaomi 13 vs iPhone 14
Finally, both phones are equal in terms of display. The differences in this respect are not that great. When it comes to performance, battery and charging, the Xiaomi 13 is to be preferred. In terms of camera and durability, the iPhone 13 does better than its rival.
